Hi,

We had our medicals in August but unfortunately my step daughter (who will not be emigrating to Canada) has to have a repeat chest xray because they found calcifications that could occassionally indicate TB. We now have to have a repeat chest xray and sputum samples (which we cannot provide as she is not coughing up anything!). I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge or expereince of this and whether this could stop the whole family emigrating. We feel very frustrated as it is extremely unlikely she has TB and she is not even emigrating, we seemed so close to getting a visa. Thank you for your help.

Hi,

I know for a fact that having TB does not disqualify you from immigrating. All that CIC requires is that the TB be treated. Once a person is medically certified as cured, she will clear her medical exams.

Someone I know has been through this process. So relax, none of you will be disqualified. It could just take a few extra months to get the visa.

Hi,

Do not worry and go for the required tests as soon as possible to avoid any delay in your further PR processing. How you are saying that she is not immigrating since you have included her in your application.

Good luck.

Hi, we have had to include her as she is my husbands daughter and there is an area on the form to say whether she will be accompanying us or not. We have to put her on there as it asks us to encase something happened to her mother and then we wanted to bring her over, they want to make sure she is fit and well. Just feel really disapointed as we would have been so close to getting our visa, just don't want to have to repeat all our medicals if this isn't sorted out by next August.
