Hello,
So today was the day I handed my application form over to the post office, hoping that the hardest part is over. (Numerous police checks, English test, having my diploma's sent over and the works)
Now I've got questions regarding the timing of things.

My first concern, is that my Working Holiday Visa expires in August. I'm going to assume that my residency won't be approved before then, so what are my options? I know I am eligible to re-apply (Australian here)..but am I allowed to re-apply for that while my residency is being processed?

Next question.. my passport expires in 2014. What happens when they request my passport, and then see there's only, say, 12 months left on it? I'd imagine I'd be ok to transfer the residency to a new passport, but just wondering what the logistics are on that?

Last question, and sorry for the repetition.. but there website states allow 14 months or so for the whole process. Wondering if there's a general consensus on a shorter time, or if I really should be holding my breath for that long?

Cheers,
~R

yes, you should be able to reapply even when your residency is in progress.

Next question.. my passport expires in 2014. What happens when they request my passport, and then see there's only, say, 12 months left on it? I'd imagine I'd be ok to transfer the residency to a new passport, but just wondering what the logistics are on that?

I think the validity is 6 months. I.e. the passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of visa issuance. That's the standard for any visa... I believe, it's the same for residency visa... However, I am not 100% sure.

Last question, and sorry for the repetition.. but there website states allow 14 months or so for the whole process. Wondering if there's a general consensus on a shorter time, or if I really should be holding my breath for that long?

I think the processing time for people submitting there application after July'11 is much less than 14 months.. It's 4-6 months. However, starting jan'12 the application are required to be sent to Cpc in nova scotia first... So not sure how that will effect the processing time... My suggestion is, just keep breathing. There is no point in holding your breath. : )
Cheers,
