I'M A LIVE-IN CAREGIVER SINCE OCTOBER 2008, AND CONTINOUSLY WORKING ON THE SAME EMPLOYER. I HAVE APPLIED FOR AN OPEN WORK PERMIT AND PERMANENT RESIDENCY LAST FEBRUARY 2011 AND IT IS ALREADY IN-PROCESS SINCE MARCH 2011 AS WELL.
I HAVE PHONED THE CIC WETHER TO RENEW MY WORK PERMIT OR NOT AND THEY SAID NO NEED. BUT MY PROBLEM NOW IS, I WASN'T ABLETO RENEW MY ALBERTA HEALTH CARD BECAUSE MY WORK PERMIT ALREADY BEEN EXPIRED LAST OCT. 19, 2011. NOW I HAVE DECIDED TO RENEW IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR RESTORATION? IF I GOT MY RESTORATION APPROVED, DOES THAT MEAN THAT THEY WILL ISSUE ME A NEW WORK PERMIT? PLEASE HELP!
you don't have to apply for restoration kitz as you have a pending application in which we are in the so called "implied status"...all you need to do if you want to renew..is a new contract and a letter from your employer stating that they are renewing you, that's what cic have told me the last time i inquired regarding renewal of work permit..in which in my case, i decided to just wait instead and so now i have no healthcare and my sin had expire...so frustrating....goodluck and hope i was able to help you..keep me posted as to how long is the renewal processing take time..
