Hi!

I'm currently a Live in caregiver, I submit my application for permanent residence last May 2011. I plan to have a vacation next year but my visa is expired already but my work permit expire on July 2013. Do I need to renew my visa? What are the requirements needed in re-entry?

Yes (for about the 100th time) You apply by mail to one of the Canadian offices in the US.  The instructions for Buffalo are here: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/visas/trv-apply_demande-vrt.aspx

according to the Visa Wait Times section, at travel.state.gov it currently takes 3 days to get an interview appointment, and 3 days to get your passport and visa back in Singapore.

Passport, you can renew at your embassy or consulate office in Canada. Pr/OWP, you can either ask for the forms to be mailed to you or download the forms from the website.

I've been working with the same employer for 2 years and 7 months, my work permit valid untill March 2013 while I waiting for my OWP Can I go home? Is it safe ? My employer will write the cover letter for me that show she allow me to go home and write departure and return date. Is that help enough for re entry to Canada?

You need valid TRV, valid WP and the letter from your employer. With these at hand you should not have problems during your re-entry.

i suggest to renew your passport first, then wp and re entry visa.

Now I have a new sitituation as I asked my employer that I really need to go home in April next year (cause at that time grandparents will come visit for a month) but she said her parents won't accept to help her look after the kids but I neeeeeeed to go so she decided to find a new nanny to replace me in April (when I expect to go home).  I understand her and relationship between us is good so she said when I return to Canada she allow me to stay in her house as long as I want or untill I get a new job. And she will write the letter for me because my wp with her is valid till 2013.

Well, from my case do you think can I use this letter to show the immigration? I'm very worry because by the time that I will return to canada she will have a new nanny already.
