why are you voting Liberal?
is it their policy on:
1) voting against penalties for people smuggling? - conservatives proposed the punishment, so they voted against
2) let anybody into Canada, just arrive and you welcome in (think 9-11 NY or 7-7 London)
3) lower prison sentences believing that therapy will solve the problem?
4)increase corporation tax to encourage multi-nationals to leave Canada?

The NDP is the closest you'll find to Communists in Canada -- at least as close to communist as a party can get and still get elected in any riding. The Liberals are horrible... they seem to think they know what's "best" for us, even when the majority disagrees. The Conservatives aren't great, but they are the lesser of the evils that actually field enough candidates to potentially form the government. If I could vote Bloc in BC, I would -- I'd love to see Quebec leave and allow us a functional government! |

I'm voting conservatives. I plan to send my vote in. One policy doesnt make a party good for power.
Conservatives as a whole serve better what I want to see in Canada. And seriously...immigration laws need to be tough. Its hard to be in the shoes of wanting your spouse or family in Canada....and its hard to have to go through so much red tape. But you have to look at the bigger picture. The government doesn't know you personally....so while their laws might make it sucky for any one of us...they also protect us from those who would use and abuse the system.
And if the system becomes a free for all....Canada won't be such a great place to live. The laws protect us from those that shouldn't be immigrating to Canada for various reasons....as well as people abusing the system. They also help keep our population under control.

Well said... Also if you are going to exercise your right to vote, then atleast be prudent and diligent and inform yourself on your parties platform and wht the MP in your areas plans to do for your riding. The most dangerous voter is one who is not informed. Im not hear to endorse any party either way but to say simply inform yourself. As the poster said one policy doesnt make a govt good, and theres never guarantees they will follow through. Get informef, look at their track records, make a good choice based on knowledge, regardless of who you vote for in the end. |

lol the laws "help keep our population under control" that's the most ridiculous statement i've read on these forums! the purpose of sponsorships is FAMILY REUNIFICATION - it is not to keep those who wish to abuse the system out. once the immigration dept looses focus, the main purpose goes down the drain and the goal then becomes to catch the "bad guys" (probably < 10%) and the hell with the rest (genuine cases - probably 90%+). I'm sorry but if i had the right to vote i wouldn'T vote for conservatives. for me spending 30 billion dollars on fighter jets and 1 billion dollar for one day at the G-8/G20 is enough not to vote for them.... ridicolous.... i feel sympathy for NDP and as a joke i did the vote compass poll online and it appeared that i better vote for liberals for the answers that i gave, but as i said i don't have the right to vote....for some things i'm conservative(crime for example), for others i'm pretty on the left side(health care and public services)
