Hi there,

I'm a international student in Canada and I wanted to apply for re-entry visa, to go back home on my break. As I remember, one of the required document is a copy of my current study-permit. I already applied to extend my study permit, which expired on Jan31,2009, but I haven't received the new one yet.(after almost 9 months) I was wondering if I can or cannot apply for re-entry visa without my new study permit, which I've been waiting for it for 9 months now.

Looking forward to get it back from you,
Regards

Hi,

Did you send the application before the expiration of your study permit ?

That is an abnormal amount of time and I highly recommend that you call CIC first thing in the morning at: 1-888-242-2100. Give them your 8 digit client ID number and ask them your status.

This could be one of three scenarios:

1) Your documents never reached them.
2) Your documents somehow got lost at CIC (unlikely)
3) It possibly got approved and they sent the permit to an outdated address.

DO call them first thing in the morning because if it is either one or two then that means you're in Canada illegally.
