Hi all

Due to error in photo, I did not get my PR card and CIC wanted me to be present in person to submit new photos. I am travelling from USA in my car in this April.

As per CIC website, COPR is enough to re-enter Canada but still I have some fear if the Canadian immigration officers create any problems in the border.

Does anybody have any such experiences, please let us know.

Thank you for your help.

copy of COPR after landing is the proof for a landed immigrant. It is not a valid travel document for re-entering Canada. However while traveling to Canada (re-entering) with copy of COPR, from USA by crossing the boarder by road there could be chances for entry without any trouble depending up on the Officer on duty. No one can assure you that you will be allowed for re-entry without a PR Card.

Thank you Wilson.

I am actually referring to the FAQ where it mentions COPR as one of the documents to be shown to the officer during entry if anyone is entering without PR card.

Quote:
If you do not present your card when you return to Canada, you may be asked to show one of the following documents:

a completed Confirmation of Permanent Residence form;
the original Record of Landing (if it is dated 1973 or later);
a passport stamped with the date you were granted permanent residence (if your Record of Landing is dated 1972 or earlier);
a certified true copy of a Record of Landing document issued by CIC National Headquarters; or
a letter issued by CIC National Headquarters attesting to your permanent resident status.
Unquote.

If anyone has any experience, please share.

No response. javascript:void(0);

Someone in this forum must have gone through similar situation, please share your experiences.

I saw a lot of such queries in different forums but did not see any responses from those whoever has crossed the border with COPR only.

Please help.

That's right.
COPR is enough to enter Canada, 'by road in a personal vehicle'... not by 'public transport' though.

Hi Corona,
Were you able to enter using just your COPR? I'm in the US and I have to get my photos re-taken as well.
Please let me know how your trip turned out.
Thanks!
