"You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. The application for permanent residence will be processed separately and the applicant will hear from this office shortly." That's followed by a whole 2 pages of my obligations as a sponsor. Is this really good news or not really a big deal? Is the permanent residence application the bigger hill to climb?

It's definitely good news since it confirms you are eligible to sponsor. However I think most of us would agree that the second part of the outland application process is the bigger hill to climb since this is where they assess if the relationship is genuine and decide if they are going to grant the application PR status based on the documents and evidence supplied.

Congrats on getting through stage one!

Thanks for the quick reply! That's exactly what I was wondering, whether the relationship test is passed during the PR process or through "eligibility to sponsor" process. I guess we wait  Roll Eyes

Hi Jazzy4545,

I am new to this forum, I just wanna ask if you have any idea if its fine to quit my present job while my application for spouse visa is in progress. I am being sponsored by my husband who is currently in Alberta right now. I mean will it affect my application if I quit my job?

Thanks in advance!

You must advise the visa office processing your application of changes to your personal and work history.  So, if you quit your job, you need to advise them of this and the effective date.  If you get a new job, you also need to advise them when it happens.
