Hi,

We applied as a provincial nominee in Alberta but were declined by the program officer stating that we have a better chance in British Columbia where we have a relative. In our application in Alberta we mentioned that we have a close friend in Alberta and a relative in British Columbia.

We want to reapply again in Alberta because that's the place we want to settle, but we are reluctant because Alberta might turndown us again, if we reapply again, can we exclude in our application the names of our relative in British Columbia? What are the implications if we do that. What is the best way for us to inform the program officer that we prefer to settle in Alberta even though we have a relative in British Columbia.

The program officer gave us one point behind the passing mark.

Thank you in advance.

Can you provide in details which category you applied in? I dont think having a relative is a problem for H1B category, not sure about the other.

Hi cgarry86,
You already disclosed in your application to Alberta that you have a relative in BC. If in your next application, i.e. reapply again, you tell them that you have no relative in BC, then you might just get yourself into trouble. Your data is already in their system and once they open your old file, they will see that you are not telling the truth in filling-up the form.  I suggest you just give them a valid reason why you want to settle in Alberta.
Good luck!

Hi Lormac,

Just want to say thank you for your suggestion (to give a valid reason why we want to migrate), I did write a letter to the immigration officer explaining my intention and I also took the EILTS exam to gain additional points, luckily we received our LOA last April 2011 and filed our application last June, currently we are waiting for the AOR, medyo mabagal ang processing sa Abu Dhabi (12-24 months) compared to Manila, OFW ako in Saudi Arabia. I'ts good to read your informative posting. Pasensya na it took a year to say thank you... God Bless...
