My american wife and I got married in ontario at the end of august.
We are going to apply outland because she goes to school in Plattsburgh, NY.

I live in Quebec and I should be receiving my marriage certificate by the mail this week.

I am very confused as far as what I have to send first.
Everyone says the first step is to send the sponsorship request, but the website has a checklist asking for all the forms, some of which require the quebec approval.

So, when I send my sponsorship request, do I also have to send the rest? or can i send just that info, then they can forward it to quebec, when that gets approved i send the documents for stage 2?

Hi there,

You need to send all your documents (sponsors and applicants) to Mississauga. They will then check your documents to see if you have gotten everything right and if you are eligible to sponsor. Your file is then transferred to your respective Visa Office. Buffalo in your wife's case, I think. Spend a few days reading the guide, the forms and this forum. Take your time in applying. Once you get the hang of it, its not really as daunting as it seems now Smiley

Thanks for answering!
Are all the fees paid up front.
Or do they get changed when needed?

You can pay them all up front. But yes they do give you an option of paying 450$ later on which is the Right of Permanent Residence Fees (RPRF). They will send you a letter instructing you when to pay, but be aware that this delays the process by 2 months min (its mentioned in the guide). So paying upfront is what most people usually do.

1.  You really should get the facts straight.
2.  The Right of Permanent Resident Fee is $490.00 rather than $450.00
3.  In the OP case, as he is a Quebec residence, he sends the sponsorship  to Mississauga.  Mississauga approves it and then sends a letter to him which he encloses with his application for CSQ to MICC in Quebec.
4.  Following the instructions here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3900E.pdf  page 9.
5.  See: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/sponsors-sponsored/index.html
