Hi.
My partner is Taiwanese and I'm British,he has his papers etc, skilled workers visa for Quebec province and is planning to move over there in January next year.I plan on traveling to be with him soon after he arrives. When I arrive we plan on marrying.1.How long do I have to be in the country before we can get married? 2.Once we are married, how easy is it for me to stay indefinitely with my visitors visa and what papers do I need to stay?

1. There's no rule about how long you have to be in Canada for in order to marry within the country. You do, however, have to provide all the documents that may be required to get your marriage license - which you need to get prior to marrying. Example: In my case, my wife is from England and I had to hand in proof I am legally divorced from my ex-wife. My wife was using a different last name then her birth name, so she had to provide documentation to prove she legally made that change. Beyond that, you'll need basic information such as birth certificates, passports, etc.
2. If you are a British citizen, you are therefor from a visa-exempt country, and can stay in Canada for up to 6 months without any visa at all (just need your passport). Afterwards, you'll either need to apply for an extended visitors visa (if you're applying for immigration via the outside route), or start the inland immigration procedure (which grants you an automatic extension while your case is being processed).
