Just staple your old passport with your new one, as your old passport has your multipe entry visa

HI,

I am going to apply for the PR On December 2009,under the living caregiver programe . CIC website says it might gets 7-8 months for the first stage approval. after I recieve open work permit I have idea to go back home (SriLanka) for short vacation.
My TRV on passport expired date is - 2008.10.29. (multiple)
I extended my work permit on 2008 and now it valid untill 2011.01
Do i need to apply TRV when I m going to re-enter canada????(sorry this is confused for me)
Is that possible to stay 1month out side of canada while processing the application for PR?
And how affect re-entering process for the openwork permit holders?

I would greatfull someone can answer me,,Thank you

Your vacation time will be added to your your time requirement to qualify for your applicaion for landed immigrant. In other words, if you take a one month vacation, you will need to be in Canada working for 24 months plus your one month vacation to qualify to apply for landed immigrant.

You'll need to renew your TRV. A work permit only allows you to stay in Canada. It's not valid for re-entry purposes if your TRV is expired.

I think you can renew it either in Sri Lanka or Canada. However, if you file your renewal in Sri Lanka while you're on holidays and it is refused, you cannot come back to Canada even with your valid work permit. That's a risk that you have to take. Call CIC toll free number and ask for clarification. Just to be on the safe side.

You can renew your TRV while still in Canada probably even before sending your PR application. Send your app to a visa office outside Canada-Buffalo, Seattle, Detroit, etc, whichever office is nearest to your current area in Canada. Attach a copy of your current work permit.
