quick question, my wife is a pr in canada now for 8 months almost, can she apply for ontario works (wellfair) or is there like some type of waiting time, also if she receives money from ontario works, does that mean you can't sponsor another person again? that is what someone here told me but I am not sure if that information is correct. In the future my wife and I want to sponser her mother, she lives in Costa rica, I have been told also that this type of sponsorship its not available at the moment. but anyways thanks in advance guys!

You sponsored your wife - correct?

If so, then she is not allowed to collect welfare for three years after landing and becoming a PR. If she does collect welfare during this period, you will be responsible for paying it back to the government. You agreed to these sponosorship terms when you signed the agreement to sponsor her.

thanks for the information scylla! but is it the same if i apply for wellfare? I mean I want to live independently with my wife and it will be hard to pay the rent, groceries, and everything else by myself when I am making close to minimum wage! Sad
