as you told us you have been to canada recently, i would like to ask following questions

1) How did you find canada? is it better than uk you think

2) how about job? is it easy to find if you compare to uk?

3) what about weather and expenses compare to uk?/

4) how is climate like? is it colder than uk?

1) How did you find canada? is it better than uk you think
I found it much "better" for us than the UK, but I think it would probably be more accurate to describe it as "different", since after almost 40 years of living in the UK I am somewhat bored of it. Probably Canadians who were bored of Canada after 40 years might find the UK somewhat exciting

2) how about job? is it easy to find if you compare to uk?
I had a job interview whilst I was over there, but for a lot of other things we had to sort during our 2 weeks didn't really get chance to sort any further interviews. For my profession (software developer) I get the feeling it's pretty easy to secure a job if you target downtown Vancouver, which is where 80% of the software developer jobs are. But then it is either a very long commute or very expensive to live close to the centre. We're currently renting on the edge of Abbotsford which is very scenic and cheap to live, but it a 3 hour daily commute to Vancouver centre (45 min drive to Surrey and 45 mins on the Skytrain, x2 each day!).

3) what about weather and expenses compare to uk?/

4) how is climate like? is it colder than uk?
For the above 2 questions, we had a particularly nice few weeks weather wise and it was very warm, more so than the UK, but apparently they didn't have a good June/July around there. All in all I'd say the weather is probably comparable to the UK.

Expenses - some food is cheaper, other food is more expensive. Rent is cheap if you live out of the centre.

This time Canada on the whole did not experience much of summer....mostly rain overtook summer, but that was required for agricultural purposes! Summer has 30C and plus temp. More Rainfall along the  the coastlines.

Winter in its full glory from November- Mar....temp fall to freezing conditions .....sometimes -30-40C with wind chill. Avg temp of 6C in Jan and goes upto 22C in July.

Canada is left and drive and we drive on the right side of the road.

Can not comment on comparison bet UK and Canada on Public transport.

The Canadian accent is very similar to the American accent (and certainly NOTHING like a British accent!:)). They are subtle differences to the American accent such as the way "out / about" is pronounced, it's more like "oot / aboot" ;p

Public transport in Vancouver where it is available is cheaper and better than the UK. They have a SkyTrain and a bus service. For $9 (about £6) you can get an all-day pass anyway in the Vancouver area (which goes from the airport into the centre of Vancouver and all the way out to Surrey). You can also use buses for the places the SkyTrain won't go. To put it into context, in the UK a single train journey of the distance from Central Vancouver to Surrey would cost £15 to £20 (about CAD $20 to $30) and that's just one journey!

Oh... I forgot about the accent part.....what I am about to say is funny....forgive me guys!! Actually British accent is somewhat considered as an "Item on display" thing or something that you see in a Zoo and exclaim- OMG!!! Here people are somewhat fascinated by British accent and may probably request you to repeat what you said couple of times until you feel - What the heck!! and they would burst out laughing and confess - I made you repeat JUST TO LISTEN TO YOUR ACCENT.

I was hilariously witness to such an incident

geezz, give me American accent anytime....I remember I felt quite teary when I was leaving New York somewhere in 2004 cos I thought I would never physically hear American slang aganin (silly me!). I can say I miss some of the soaps, expecially Corination Street where you will get proper Manchester twang.....Mandie

americans are known as arrogant and rude in rest of the world and so is their accent. they also carry weapons. in australia they even call somebody who is bad "he is so amercian"

their accent is like they shout and attack others
