Hi All,

My Surname is XY in Passport, all my education certificates, PR application. But in my latest employment I have opted to use ABC which is the surname after marriage, but my pass port still reflects my old Surname.

When I am submitting my initial application to Nova Scotia, at that time I was unemployed, and the story was simple only one Surname which is XY. I got the AOR and ready to sent the complete set of documents to New Delhi Visa office. In this set of application should I mention my ABC surname  under " Other names you have been used". And attache my marriage certificate as the proof of my Surname.

I am totally confused.  Sad please help....... advise me what to do........
Thank you all

If some of your documents list one surname and employment docs have another, you are going to have to explain why.  It is perfectly understandable that your name changed after marriage and the best way to prove that is with your marriage certificate and a cover letter of explanation.  I am not sure why you are confused about doing this??  Is this just the last straw after collecting all the required documents???   Did you indicate in your initial documents that you were married?  Just keep it simple and truthful.  Good Luck!

I think you have to go by the name in your passport and birth certificate and also educational certificate because those are the names you had before your marriage. there is an option in the application form whether you know by any other name - enter your other name there. think it will not be a big problem if you give an explanatory note with the application.

in my case i have the same issue as my wife used my surname after marriage and she has a number of documents by that name. in all the forms where there is an option whether she is known by any other name - i used that name. but sticking to the maiden name bcz her uni certificates, birth certificate are on that name.

hope this will help.

Hi

Use the surname which is in passport and put the other surname in "Other names you have been used/known by".

Cheers
