Dear All,

We live in USA and I got my Canadian PR last year. I am planning to enter Canada next Month from USA. My last date for entry mentioned in the doc is 1-Aug-2011 so I need to enter before that to maintain the validity of my PR. But my spouse cannot come with me due to her US VISA limitations. If she doesn't enter in Canada along with me, will she be able to enter anytime later or she has to enter before 1-Aug-2011 as per the date mentioned in the document. Being an primary applicant, I will be making my PR active next month itself. Please provide your inputs for my spouse case.

Thanks and Regards.

Thanks Fariza... I got my answer ! In this scenario my wife will be loosing the oppurtunity to enter in Canada before the expiry date. So does that mean that I will have to go for a fresh application for her if she wants to enter later (after the expiry).

Unfortunately your spouse have to land before the visa expiry date (01-08-20111 either with you (PA) or by her own.. so far I know. I am not sure if you could still sponsor her later under the condition bound with the application or condition of visa issuance... Senior like PMM, Leon, Qorax could guide you perfectly with this.

Once her PR expires, she needs to start a new file under family class, pay the fees, undergo medical, security/paper verification....etc. She has to start the whole file all over again.

Good luck

Thanks Mezo, do you know if sponsoring through Family will take same amount of time as FSW or will it be quicker as all her processing has already been done once for FSW category ?

If your VO is Buffalo, since you file it from the US, it would around 11 months. Check the below link, then check step 2 list of countries.
