After submitting the full documents to the local visa office, the local visa office send us a new file no. and we use this new no. to check our application status through CAS,

the question is: after getting the new AOR and file no., can we still use the old file no. to check the application status through CAS ?

i saw someone here who can use both numbers ( the old and new file no. ) to check the application status online !!

Thanks windtunnel for your reply,

so not being able to use the CIO file no. to check the status online most probably means the new file no. from the local visa office is on it's way, right ?

do u know after how many days from deactivating the CIO file no. the new file no. sne t to the applicant ? i think they must send it on the same day but may be there is delay in the delivery because of the normal postal mail delay, right ?

thanks

I can check my application status from both (Old and new file number) and in both cases status is the same.

I am able to check my e-case status from all of the following: (3 sources)

My CIO file number

MY client ID number (study permit number, since i am an international student in canada)

My new file number from Buffalo visa office

and all of them show the same information.

So we concluded that some applicant can use both no. ( The one from the CIO and the one from the local visa office ) to check their online status and some other applicant can only use the new file no. as the old one was deactivated ( i mean not recognized in the CAS ) to check their online status,

Interesting conclusion :
if u submitted ur documents to ur local visa office and suddenly u couldn't use ur CIO file no. to check ur status this means that the new file no. is on it way to u, consider postal mail delay,

for masem's last question, i would say 'probably yes'.

one fine tuesday morning, my e-cas status had vanished...

couple of days later i got the visa office AOR with the new file number.

but then it might also depend on the visa office, how they update e-cas etc. etc.

   Hi Windtunnel,
In my case i use both to check my information and it gives the same results. So far i have received new File number but the local visa office has not updated my ecase, it is still  showing the information from Nova  Scotia.

I am so confused, so Windtunnel is right by saying that it depends on the visa office on how the update ecase.

Thanks
