Hello,

I have filed sponsorship for my husband and my son in a outside Canada process. My file will be processed in New Delhi (India). My son is presently with me in Canada. He is on a visitor visa. I have a few questions.

I understand the processing time in India is 6 Months and It takes nearly 2-3 months to get immigrant visa stamped after passport request.

1) Is there a possibility for me to get my son's immigrant visa stamped in any Canadian consulate in the US.
2) If i have to goto India to get my son's visa stamping done, will it affect the immigration process in any way. Can i leave the country and come back with my family as i am not presently employed?

Thanks,
Regards,
Karp

1) No.

2) If you are a PR, you must return to Canada to wait out the rest of the process after the passport has been submitted.  As a PR, you must be residing in Canada until a decision is made on the sponsorship (i.e. the visa is issued and your family lands in Canada), so an absence of 2-3 months is not advisable.
