Hello,

I  had just send by application to Nova Scotia couple of days back.

Some questions on funds.

1) Is it ok if the bank account is in the name of spouse ( not a joint account )? This is for New Delhi.

2) How long do I need to keep the required money in the account?.   Starting from the date of initial application?

Appreciate any replies...

hi..........

i had sent bank account details which were in the name of me and my spouse which got accepted...so i think it should be ok.

see..for your 2nd question ..nobody will be able to answer exactly except for the immigration officer himself.  we all keep on making guesses.  I think till you get your medicals request and RPR fee you should not remove the money. people in this forum have talked about job verification being done by calling up the employer when full documents were sent.  nobody knows whether they actually call or email the bank to find out the fund details...

Sheldon,

why don't you change the bank account to joint account right now, its better as a joint account although an account on your spouse name is OK if both of you make the landing at the same time.

Also on withdrawal of money from the account, it is not advisable till you complete the entire process right till you complete the landing as even on your landing you have to show the required funds.

Thanks for the advices.

2) As you people suggested, I will  start a joint account or transfer the money from my wife's account to my mine. Most likely I will going alone initially and later planning to bring the family. Hence I do not want to take any risk.

2)Basically it means probably up to an year I cannot touch the money!
