Author Topic: Question on COPR that comes with Passport Visa (statement regarding dependents)  (Read 192 times)

I got my passport with Visa back as well as the  Confirmation of Permanent Residence ("CPR").  On the CPR, it has a space to list "Accompanying Dependents" which was left blank (which is correct), but then it has a line that says "Do you have any dependants other than those listed here?"  and it says "NO."  I am not sure why it says no, because I have 2 children.  My children are both Canadian citizens and were disclosed in the relevant place(s) on my application.

Has anyone else had this issue?  Does the question just refer to non-Canadian citizen dependents?  Do I need to call or should I just make this clear when I land?  The letter that came with the passport and CPR says to call if I find any errors in the name, date of birth, country of birth or country of citizenship for me or my dependents, and that is not really the problem here.

Anyone's advice / experience is much appreciated.  Thanks.

From what I know, the only "dependants" listed there would be dependants that are NOT already Canadian citizens. Since your children are already citizens, they don't count.
I must admit though, I never heard of whether or not they're supposed to be listed on the COPR. Perhaps somebody else will know for sure.

Thanks for responding.  That's what I figured, but the way the question is worded concerned me b/c it asks if there are ANY dependents other than those listed.

I just saw someone else with similar facts asked the same question on another forum - there was no answer listed, but it gives me more comfort that it might actually be correct.

UPDATE:  I spoke to the Call Center this morning who confirmed that it is correct.

I would figure it would have to do with non-accompanied dependents since the application asks so much about it and you have to mention them before landing if you want 2 sponsor them in the future.
