Hi,

is there any special rule or procedure here in the US when bringing out money from US to Canada (more than $10,000)? I am thinking to close my bank account and bring the money as my proof of funds.

All i know is that I have to declare the money when I land to Canada.  what about here in the US, is there any declaration that I need to make or any form that I need to fill up?

I will land via Airplane.

Thanks.

Rule is that when we take  10K or more in and out of the US /Canada you need to report it to the customs. When I went for PR confirmation, the Canadian Immigration officer mentioned this. He asked whether I reported this in US counter. I said I didn't know about this and while driving I didn't see any US outpost to report this.

Let say if I am driving to Vancouver BC from the US side when I land, where do I report my US $ to on the US side?

I am confuse. From which counter (in US side) should I report the money I'm taking out of US for Canadian immigration? Are we talking about the Airline counter?

The money i'm brining to Canada are all hard earned money and I do not want to lose it due to ignorance of the law.

Thank you.

What i have read is that every US airport has a custom office, where we need to go and declare any amount more than $10000, which we are taking out of the country.

I would like to know if anyone has already gone through this process, and what all questions are asked by the US custom??
