QUESTION FOR PMM

I have recently been contacted by the visa office asking me for proof of a paid fine due to driving offence 12 years ago, the only thing is that I do not have this as it was 12 years ago,  I have contacted the court where it was paid and they have told me that they may not be able to give me one as 10 years have passed.  What can I do?

Request a letter from that court stating that the records have been destroyed and submit the letter.
