I wrote my own and then "summarized" or transferred it on the form I was given at the border (because mine was too long). I suspect it probably has to be on the official form since they stamp it/sign it and send it through processing at the payment counter (even though there is no payment due). At least that is what they did with mine. Plus I had to present it again when I crossed with my goods (I drove across with a u-haul truck), so they probably want to make sure nothing was added.

We did the same thing. I had a list of everything in each box and then transferred it to the B4 under categories - clothing, books, CDs/DVDs, toys etc. My own list made it so easy for us when we moved so we could say "where is my blue jacket" and look at the list so we only ever had to look in one box instead of going through them all.

I did my own list and then transferred that into 5 or 6 catergories on the b4.
Like furniture, clothing, kitchenware, vehicles, ect.
And assigned them a total value that matched the other sheets.

I did mine in excel and they were very impressed at the border.

I have a lot of hobby stuff, such as lots of quilting fabric.    Do I need to list how many pieces of fabric or is it sufficient to list how many boxes of fabric I have?     Same with books - I hope we don't have to count every book and am hoping number of book boxes is sufficient.    Anybody know?

Yeah I think that the border agents will wonder (not really) about my list, because I have like 130 boxes of scrapbooking/crafting things but that IS what is in the boxes..... you'll be fine to generalize.

Did anyone posting in this thread have their goods examined? I did not, but I crossed in the middle of the night in a snowstorm, so I'm not sure I got standard treatment.

I have not landed with any goods yet, but when my husband moved from Canada to the US in 97' the border agent asked 2 questions.
Do you have any firearms?
Do you have a vehicle inside the Uhaul?

And waved us on. Granted that was TO Canada but there was no paperwork even!
