Question about work visa in regards to PR app

My boyfriend and I are applying as common law in March of next year. Now in order for us to have qualified for common law I had to find a way to move to Canada with a long term visa so we could live together for a year. In doing so I got a job transfer from the US to Canada. Now my question is, should I include on my application that I got the work visa to live with my boyfriend or not? As of now I was just gonna say that I got the work visa because I always wanted to live abroad (which is true) and because I wanted to end the distance between my boyfriend and I. I don't want it to be a red flag though cause on my work visa application I said I was applying cause I just wanted to live abroad and failed to mention the fact that my boyfriend lived in Canada as well. Thoughts please?

Its a tough situation and I can see why you are not sure what to say. I would probably say the same thing you are suggesting... confirm you always wanted to work abroad, but also that you wanted to be near your boyfriend. I think mentioning the second point aswell is crucial.
But I wouldnt worry about it too much. You already got the work permit. They will be assessing you for your PR and evaluating your relationship and eligibility to immigrate as a member of the family class, not how you got the work permit.

I already have the work permit rouvie, but I do plan to get another one when this one runs out in July, at least until my PR is hopefully granted. We've been together for almost 2 years and we've been living together since March, which is why we won't be applying until March of next year.

Pinklady, thanks for the advice. I'm just worried that may affect if I can get my work permit extended later on. We want to live together till I get my PR and so I don't want what I say in my application to hurt the chances of that happening. This is exactly what I have written about it so far:

its like a year of waiting for your PR aerogurl,,think about applying inland as well..I gues that will benefit you in some area like if you apply inland you can send your  application for the work permit extension together with your sponsorship app since your WP will expire july. by doing that, if you wont hear anything about your extension you can still work because you will be on implied status till you get the result. but if let say they refuse your extension you can still stay in canada as you are inland application, but the thing is you just can't work till you get your first stage approval. which would take 10 mos-ish? it depends actually. Just a reminder, you cannot go outside canada til you get PR but good thing you can stay with your man. I know you have to think about it many times, if its outland or inland. they both have good and bad, and its up to you to decide

What you've written so far sounds perfect. When applying for an extension of the work permit I would state the same things you said last time, and you can add that you are nearer to your boyfriend, you enjoy the job and the experience, you're happy and want it to continue etc.
Try not to worry. Worst case is they say no to the extension of work permit and you either are without work for a couple of months or return to the states.
If you apply in March, your case is likely to be completed within 6 months or so.

I would agree 100% with pinklady...apply outland...much much faster as you are American...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yeah I was planning on applying outland because I will definitely need to leave the country next year to return home for the birth of my sister's baby. So inland is out of the question.

Rouvie, I know it can take up to a year for the PR to go through, but we're hoping for a quicker timeline. And if my work permit extension is denied I'd just move back home temporarily. It wouldn't be an ideal situation, but I'd rather move back home for a few months and return to Canada than live in Canada for a year and not be able to work or visit my family back home. But thanks for the advice.

Pinklady, thanks for the input on what I wrote. I guess I'll keep that and just send the info in that way.
