Hi,

I'm a US citizen. If I were to marry a Canadian citizen and have her live with me in the US after getting married, is there any possibility of me gaining any sort of legal status in Canada (like PR card or Canadian citizenship) thru my future spouse?

After getting married I plan to stay in the US.

What would be the steps in involved and what type of visas could I apply for?

See Leon's first post in the first thread at the top.

In summary, your wife can sponsor you for permanent residence (PR) in Canada as her spouse following your marriage.  She may do so while living outside of Canada, but would be required to prove that she intends to re-settle in Canada if you are granted PR.

Citizenship requires a permanent resident to prove 3 years physical presence in Canada out of the last 4 years.  Days outside of Canada do not count towards this requirement.

In order for you to gain permanent status in Canada your wife has to apply to sponsor you.  She can't do that unless she can prove that she intends to resettle in Canada.  If she did that, and after a period of time the both of you decide to go back to the States, you could do that - and you'd maintain your Canadian PR status indefinitely without residing in Canada as long as you and she stayed together.

What you need to consider, though, is that by leaving the US for more than 6 months, she probably loses her green card.  If the two of you honestly don't intend to settle in Canada, it's probably not worth your time or money (or having to apply again for her US permanent status) to go through the Canada immigration process.
