Question about temporary work visa

Hi. I've viewed various sites about Canadian Work Visas and the point system process and I'm a bit confused about it. My post is sort of similar to this one:

I've been a US citizen all my life, have a valid passport, and currently am in sales (about 3 years) as well as attending a university in a state that is relatively close to Vancouver B.C. (1 hour flight travel time, 5 hour train ride). I do not intend on going to school up in B.C.; I also own my own business that happens to be available in British Columbia as well but I just need things to be a little more clear in terms of the types of visas are available and which ones I could be possibly qualified for and the process of what works. I do also realize that for US citizens a general visa isn't required to live in Canada as long as your stay is less than 180 days. I know the areas/locations of Vancouver B.C./Richmond/Burnaby/Surrey very well. Thank you.

So what is it that you want to do?  You want to work in Canada?

For a temporary work permit, you first need to find an employer who will apply for an LMO for you.  You can use the LMO to apply for a work permit.  Problem is, with the economy, they are clamping down on LMO's being issued.

Another way would be to apply for permanent residency directly.  You could apply for FSW if you have at least 1 year of work experience in an occupation that is on the list of 38 most wanted, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

Otherwise, you would need an employer again.  This time, he would apply for an AEO for you.  You can use the AEO to apply for your immigration either through the BC PNP or as an FSW Category 2.
