My husband is filling out his application forms now and we are confused about question 3

3. Your net personal income
Your net personal income for the 12-month perios preceding the date of your application
Amount-

12-month period starting -

and ending-

He was in school last year and the beggining of this year so his income wasn't as good... Should we use the income from his Option C Printout that is dated May 19th, 2010 to May 19th, 2011? or Do July 09th,2010 to July 09th, 2011?

If we use the July to July date the number is more impressive by a few thousand, but using the one on the May to May date seems more official than trying to figure out July to July.

I know the income for spouses isn't as important, but some opinions would be appreciated! Thanks!

It says the 12 months preceding the date of your application.  So it has to be the last 12 months, July 2010 to June 2011, or Aug 2010 to Jul 2011 if you haven't signed it off yet.

Spousal sponsorship doesn't have a minimum income requirement so the May one would be fine

we did this with my husband a couple of weeks ago, and the way we understood the question is that he should list his income for the 12 months right before he signed the form, so if you're planning to sign the form in July, the 12 months preceding would be July 2010-June 2011.

Hi, I was wondering about this question.

I am a student too, and have been abroad for the year (not working), however, I also got a small inheritence from my grandmother and some money wired to my account from my parents for Christmas and stuff. Would I include any money that came into my bank account, or just that which I earned through working?

In the Document Checklist for the Sponsor (IMM 5491) it says to "provide evidence of income" (Item 19) if you received that income (dividends, pension, maternal or sickness benefits, etc.) over the twelve months before signing the sponsorship application.

Note however that this probably only applies if your specific situation requires you to meet minimum income requirements. I'm not sure but I think that this  only applies if you're sponsoring members of your family who are NOT your spouse and children.

Maybe a more experienced forum member can clarify.
