Hello,
I hope someone can help. My wife a resident of Canada for 23 years has sent in her PR card renewal forms and it will not arrive in time. We faxed in the urgent request as well but to avail and will not be able to make to Mexico City to get travel documents. Can she re-enter Canada with her British passport, old landed papers, marriage certificate, etc, etc. Can she be detained at the airport? Looking for insight or advice to put her mind at ease. Thanks R.

Somebody posted on this board about the experience of having arrived back to Canada with an expired PR card.  She was pulled aside and questioned a bit about why her PR card was expired, she said she just hadn't noticed.  Then they said that this is starting to happen a lot now that the first PR cards are expiring and let her through.  Of course that is just one experience.  I would say call CIC or the border services and ask what they think.
