Hi Everyone!

I mailed in my Application for Spousal Sponsorship about 3 months ago now. I checked the waiting status on the CIC website and it says they are currently working on the Aug 15, 2011 Applications.

Now when I shipped my Application package, my tracking number stated it was delivered on Aug 17th, 2011 so they should get to it by this week. My question is, will they contact me through mail stating they have received my Application package and provide me a tracking number to check my status online?

Another question is it took my wife 1 month to receive her police record/paperwork. Then it took almost 2 months for CIC to receive it. So there is a chance the 3 months had passed and possible expiry according to CIC outline. So I'm wondering do they stamp the Application Package when they've received it and as long the police paperwork is before that receiving date, it is okay? I just don't want to seriously go through the police paperwork again.

Anyone that has gone through the process can tell me?

Thanks.

My husband didn't get any update on his sponsorhip application until it was approved, but that was in the spring when the average waiting time was 30 days. Don't know if they're providing updates now that the waiting time is twice as long.

I can't really answer your second question, but I assume if it's considered out-dated you'll get a request for a new police check from CIC. You might want to call the customer service number and see what they say.

Do you mean it is two months before you sent it to them or is that the time it has taken for them to open your app? As long as cic receive your police checks within three months (I'm assuming they date stamp the applications as they come in) it doesn't matter how long it takes them to open it, it is counted as valid!
That said, my police check was two weeks over the three months and they were okay with that!

That is exactly what I mean. That answered my question. How about my first question? Do they inform you about a status number to look up for our application package?

they will inform you either by email or by letter whether your sponsor has been approved or not, Jeri.

So there is no way of tracking the processing status?

They usually finish processing within a day or 2.

no, but if it's been longer than the processing time it says on the website, you can call them and ask what's up!

Thanks everyone! I actually got a letter in the mail stating they have received my Application and they also provided me a UIC number to track the status! Looks like my application left the Mississauga location and is on it's way to the UK!

Thanks to everyone!
