Hi all,

Quick question: If my common-law is with me in Canada while we apply, on the IMM0008 form do I put current address as the one in Canada and then residential address as his Mexican address? We want his application to go to the Mexico City consulate for out land sponsorship.

Thanks all!

You have to show the current address as what it is now actually and next the permanent home address. In the covering letter you may make a note about it.

Per the instructions I was under the impression that "Current Mailing Address" was the mailing address you want all correspondence sent to (not necessarily where you are physically located), and "Residential Address" is where you are currently physically residing.

In my case I have put my wife's Canadian address for both, as I am here--with valid visitor record--visiting her throughout the process. Also for "Current country of residence" (Page 1, Question 10) I have indicated Canada.

Seems somewhat grey and now (as ever  Cheesy) I am second guessing what I wrote on my form....is this incorrect?

The Contact information column of the IMM0008  line 1 to 5 ask all the relevant details of the applicant's address and phone/fax  including e mail address. The e mail address is more effective and faster than other methods. The purpose is proper communication with the applicant as well as verification of identity.

No, the residential address doesn't HAVE to be in Mexico... Since he's a Mexican, you have the right to request his application to be processed in Mexico, or in Canada if he has a legal temporary status there... So, all information you enter in the forms should reflect the actual situation to avoid any unnecessary confusion.
