Question about getting SIN

Will I need my passport when applying for a SIN? I have my OWP, but lost my passport.

I want to get a new SIN but will they need my passport?

Hubby renewed his expired SIN last Friday and he just showed them his new work permit.

No, you don`t need the passport. If you would like to get a permanent SIN, the bad news is, you have to wait until the PR card arrives. When someone lands inland, they don`t attach the visa counterfoil to the passport and without that Service Canada does not issue the SIN. You can use your temporary one until the card arrives.
It sucks, I am still upset that Service Canada and CIC cannot work this out for us who applied inland. Who wants to wait another 2-3 month for that friggin card?
If you just want to renew your temporary SIN, you have to show either a work permit or an OWP.

Awwwwww, you werent able to find you passport afterall    I was following your earlier post and hoping you would find it afterall...Anyways, all the best for the future
