Hi ,

I am a temporary resident(Visitor) and I would like to apply for an "open work permit". My husband is a temporary resident (worker ) having a valid work permit till November 2010. Could you please let me know the complete procedure for applying open work permit inside Montreal apart from applying at the port of entry .

Thank you .

Regards,
Vidya.

To apply for an open work permit without an LMO, you must meet the following conditions:

1.Your husband must be authorized to work in Canada for six months or longer.
2.His job must be listed in Skill Level O, A or B in the National Occupational Classification.

“Spouses, partners and dependent children may apply for their work permit from within Canada. For more information, including definitions and requirements, refer to the guide Application to change conditions or extend your stay in Canada as a worker “

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp

If you meet the requirments you will get your work permit within four weeks.

Good luck !!!
