Dear All,

I have a very important question about education:

What exactly is the definition of 1 yr diploma?

I'm an export agent. I hold an advanced diploma from the "Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers" in the U.K. This is the governing entity of my industry. In order to obtain this diploma, one must pass two exams over the period of 2 years. You are given a study guide for both exams and you must sit the exam within one year. There are no "in class" lessons or anything like it.
Will immigration Quebec recognize this diploma? Will I be awarded the correspondent points for a 1 year diploma? I would really appreciate an answer.

Thanks to all,

As you are at 49 points and you dont have any french knowledge, it would be prefer to take some French classes at AF and try to clear DELF A1 or any other French exam like TEFAQ.

hi amandeep,
One very strong point of your profile is your AOT-Avionics. Let me tell you it is among one of the most shortage occupations in Quebec and because of your AOT your application will get PRIORITY over other applicants and you will have very fast processing.
As your AOT is in Group 1, application cap limit will not be applicable to you.

As harit79 has suggested you SHOULD consider the option of studying the french.

Because as for now, you are reaching the interview threshold of 49 points for a single applicant, so you can apply anyways.
Lets understand why learning french is important. You need 55 points to get csq, and as per your profile, you will be getting interview call withing max 6 months of your applications. You can get maximum 6 points of adaptability in interview and then your final points be counted.

So, my suggestion will be that take coaching of A1 level from nearby Alliance Francaise centre, reach upto A1 level, which will give you 2 points for A1 and thus your total points will now be 51 points and then send your application. This will take 5-6 months at most.  Also by this time, you would have added some more months of work experience in your profile.

Regarding your internship, you can mentioned this in your application and attach all the necessary documents for work experience. it will be counted as work experience.
you must also show your ties/connections with quebec/canada. However, you will not get any points for relatives staying outside quebec.

I hope this info will be helpful to you.
Feel free to ask for any help needed.
Bonne Chance Smiley

Dear Members,

Please Appraise the QSW points for one of my friend interested in applying:

Education -> 10 Points (3 Years Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineer after 12 years of secondary education)
AOT -> 16 Points -> As far as I know it equal to Avionics or Aircraft Construction Techniques (Indian Degree)
Work -> 4 Points (9 Months In Indian Airlines)
Age -> 16 Points (24)
English -> 2 Points (Not yet appeared for IELTS but expected atleast 5)
Financial Self-Sufficiency -> 1
(He is unmarried)
==========================================
======
49 Points -> So total it makes 49 Point================================================

He earns exactly 49 Points which means he qualifies.

Please let me know if I am wrong somewhere.

And Please let me know if he still need to learn French to qualify Interview if he does not wants to claim points for french ?

Your reply will be really appreciated.
