Congrats on your 1st paycheck.  Grin
all the best managing your schedule. !!

  @    Darshmond,
well there is no specific answer for ur question cos, taste differs and the monthly cost for each individual is a function of hiséher taste.... be that as it may, i will try to talk on the fixed variables that is constant irrespective of ones taste.
1) for an immigrant working 7hrs per day, 5days a week,he is guaranteed a sum of $1,400 per month or $350 per week( if u can wrk more, then u get more)... most coy pays every 2wks.....and this is subjected to a 15% tax
minimum wage is $10 per hour...

 @  egrace62,
To God be the Glory for your achievement(s) so far.how is studies & work? hope you are coping with Montreal weather?.Please, what is the Prospect of an Accountant in Montreal/Quebec?.I am Chartered Accountant in Nigeria.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Biolah
the challege is same bro...... no canadian experience, no accounting job...... so u might need do some thing else, get enrolled on the CGA list there is an exam u will do... b4 u can even practice..... and the truth is most coy here dont hire pple from outside staright into managerial post.... costhey will tell u everyone of us up here started from the sctratch and we buit our way up... hence jobs like sales, marketing or labour job are the common thing..... i was at fedex and i was shocked when one of the top shot said, every one of us here had served ourturn as package handler b4 getting up here.... money wise, evryone of us will get something good when we land compared to where we are coming from but the responsibillity aspect is something that will take time... for us to get a job that wil;l take us to the same level of authority  or responsibility as in our home country that will take time... so it is only the monetary aspect that willl be solved alsost immediately but the responsibility aspect is something that will need time

Immigrant2012
pretty straightforward.
if you have been in the UK for more than 1 year, you should apply to Paris.
Montreal - (inplace of damascus, right?) if you've been away from mid-east, then your not eligible to apply   @   Damascus/Montreal.

you dont have the option to choose your BIQ. it chooses you. (oooh, sounds like a line from a horror movie  Wink )

edit:
or maybe if you apply after you leave UK for good, you can. maybe others have an input on this..

As I mentioned before I am Middle Eastern living in the UK for more than a year.
My visa will expire on August 2012 but I will leave the UK (for good) months before that.
My question is
If I will apply now from the UK do I have the choice to apply to ( Paris or to Montreal ) or should it be Paris?

and many thanks for sharing this bits of life there... it surely helps to understand and to get ready for how life is / will be there... in wonderland !
My wishes for your success and happy life there ! Smiley

2) transport: with a monthly ticket that goes for 72$,  for a single addult, u will have limitless access for the month for methro and buses... limitless as in limitless per day u go out as u like... but for 2adults, u might need two of those unless if both of u wont be able to go out at the same time if u wanna share the card.... if below 25yrs, the cost is 35$

3) Daycare: this is the drainner here..... they charge nothing less than $7 per day per child.....  so u can imagine aw much per  month here....unless if either of u will want to sacrifice working so as to stay with the kids.... or u might want to alternate work hours such that the time that both of u will be working and yet ur wrk hours will be such that one would av returned from wrk when the other is leaving home but then even this comes with a price cos family bonding is also important in my own opinion....

4) Housing: for a family of 5, a 2.5 apartment should do.... but there are diffeent price ranges.... u can get a 2.5 for 600$ per month and u can also get for 2000$ while not leaving out that u can also get some between this range... it is a function of ur TASTE bro.... i av even seen some advert for 2.5 apartment that goes for 550$

5) Feeding: here also it is a fucntion of ur taste bro... but normally feeding shouldnt cost  a family of 5  more than 300$ per month....

6) phone bills: my advise here is that u keep it as low as posible... here u pay for every thing.... even if u receiving calls u gget charged for it... but the netwrk i use dosen do that... it gives me limitess call time within  montreal and limitless incoming calls..... for a bill of 25$ per month....what most phone coy do here is that they give out phone free but they will bind you with a contract for 3yrs whre one will be required to pay nothing less that 50$ per month for the  next 2yrs.... i decided to get my phone without contract for 80$ then i subcribed to a 25$ package. i paid a one-off bill of 105$ rather than being bound with a contract with a free phone whree i will end up paying X50 of the original price of the phone cos the only thing i need my phone for now is to recieve calls from prospective employers... i av internent access in my apartment....
7) trust me, there are several things here that can make u finish ur landing fund with a month....
in conclusion: for those that will be coming to canada from a country whre the currency thay are presently spending is at peréalmost at per or even  higher than the canadian dollar, they will not av significant alteration in their lifestyle.... both for those that will be coming from a contry whose currency has been negatively affected by infalion or defltation blah blah blah... it will be somehow.... like me by the time i was converting my money, one canadian dollar was 165naira ( my country;s currency).... so even with a cash of over a 1.5million in savings, u can imagine aw the money shrunk.....so for those of us can will be coming from a place with not too strong a currency, u really cant afford not to find some thing doing quick cos u will need to start almost immediately so that u can regain ur living standard  back
Cool for those from a country with a currency that isnt so strong, you also will tend to av an attitude when evr u go shopping.... u will tend to also multiply out with the exchange rate for ur contry of origin.... and then u will go.... whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat, this is too expensive... but by the time u begin earning their money, that mindset will change

If you apply to Paris and then move out of Western Europe, you will have to notify Paris of your address change. Then your file will be sent to another office. This will waste your time. It is better to stay wherever you can have the most efficient service and stay in one country until at least interview. Paris is one of the quickest offices and you will probably get interviewed within 10 months, if you stay in western Europe.
My situation is similar. I am stuck in UK because if I change country, I have to transfer my case to another office which works at a snail's speed.

Thank u vibez_well  for your reply

2) Can anyone mail me also a standard format of CV. i have professional one but little bit worried. Please mail me at arunrana3 @ gmail.com

3) I have experience letter's from my previous companies in their letterhead...properly signed by them.....date of joining and last working day............... but no contact number given in letter head. So what i can do for that?

4) i have done B.COM in 2006 (Regular) and then MSC (IT) in 2011 (Correspondence). Working experience of 4 years as Graphic Designer
Anyone can please tell me how much point i can earn in these?

5) My work profile is same but my offer letter's shows my designation as EXECUTIVE, FORMATTING SPECIALIST. POWERPOINT SPECIALIST, Graphic designer. How can i show that i worked in same profile (Graphic design or powerpoint specialist)? do i need to add any cover letter for that?

5) I have also done RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Admin) Course and have certificate. But no job exp. in that area. Do i need to show that along with my application or not. Does it makes negative impact on my application?

Once again thank a ton to all.

Either request again to your employers to give you experience letter mentioning their contact numbers. And I guess that would be quite difficult if you have more than couple of jobs in past few years. In that case you can explicitly mention the contact numbers/emails/web of your employer or the immediate supervisor on a separate sheet and explain the reason well about it in your cover letter.

1) Anyone live example here who applied with notorized documents in BIQ office Hongkong from india and he received CSQ or AOR. I know few our old fourm member like Shahi and forget others name who notarized their documents applied to HK now already in Montreal. so u can also notarised your document from notarty public from delhi session court / high court

2) Can anyone mail me also a standard format of CV. i have professional one but little bit worried. Please mail me at arunrana3  @  gmail.com This CV is also fine.

3) I have experience letter's from my previous companies in their letterhead...properly signed by them.....date of joining and last working day............... but no contact number given in letter head. So what i can do for that? as said by fresco explain them and secondly try to take new one if possible because Embassy peoples know that there is no letter head without specialy telephone no. if not possible then explain your situation and give telephone no and email address in your explanation letter.

How can i show that i worked in same profile (Graphic design or powerpoint specialist)? do i need to add any cover letter for that? if they consider your Master then u will get 12+6 = 18 points, but i m little concern that your degree is correspondence. if they dont consider your masters then u will get only 6 points for your bach of commerce

5) I have also done RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Admin) Course and have certificate. But no job exp. in that area. Do i need to show that along with my application or not. if it is less then 1 year in duration then no need to attach Does it makes negative impact on my application? No. becasue they dont consider any prog whose duration is less then 1 year.

Once again thank a ton to all.

thanks
Arun

The project uses NEXUS, choose to invest, succeed, a group of three leading sectors to promote employment of skilled immigrant

November 21, 2011
Montreal, November 21, 2011 - The Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities (MICC), Kathleen Weil, vice president and executive committee of the City of Montreal and responsible for economic development, Richard Deschamps, have Jobs unveiled the project NEXUS, choose to invest, succeed in the presence of
Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Montreal InVivo, sponsoring organization of the project, Dr. Jacques Gagné, and Mrs. Mary Deros, member of executive committee the City and responsible for relations with communities from diverse backgrounds. This project is part of Montreal Challenge which involves various partners in the employment integration of immigrants from the island of Montreal.

"The aerospace, information technology, life sciences and health technology are sectors of the economy facing a scarcity of labor. To promote such a dynamic and future of companies in these sectors, we have workers from all over the world who are young, qualified and who speak French. Use a project like Nexus, choosing, investing, success builds bridges between employers and immigrant workers. This is a unique partnership between three innovative sectors that can join a pool of talent present in Montreal! "Said Minister Kathleen Weil.

"The City of Montreal is pleased to work with the MICC and industry representatives from three innovative sectors for multi-sectoral program that will provide support and referrals to businesses to help them meet the challenges of recruiting skilled workers from immigrant . We know our business and, in particular those innovative sectors, will have to find solutions to the predicted shortage of skilled and employable immediately. The immigrant workers have been identified as a major source of growth for Montreal, "said Deschamps.

NEXUS employment in brief

Employment NEXUS is a multi-sectoral project that offers support and references to Montreal businesses to better meet the challenges of recruiting skilled workers from immigrant families. The three targeted areas are aerospace, information technology and life sciences and health technologies.

Many practical tools and useful information will be available to companies and SMEs, including: a website like blog, individualized business meetings, a document of type "toolbox" for employers, training activities and employment forums.

The project proponent is Montreal InVivo, a nonprofit organization that identifies the cluster of life sciences and health technologies. Several other partners are involved in the project: industrial clusters and AeroMontréal TechnoMontréal; sectoral committees for labor and TechnoCompétences PharmabioDéveloppement and the Center for adaptation of the aerospace workforce in Quebec and the Adjustment Committee of the workforce - Immigrants, the city of Montreal and the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

Challenge Montreal: a laboratory for innovative projects

launched in 2009 as part of measures to strengthen Québec's action in the integration of newcomers, Montreal Challenge aims to encourage the creation and implementation of development projects and innovative facilitate access to employment for people with an immigrant background. Montreal Challenge is an initiative of the Department of Immigration and Cultural Communities in partnership with Emploi-Québec and the Regional Conference of Elected Montreal.
