fReSco/STILLHOPE/seniors, I need your assistance here please:

I have questions in the below areas:

1. Application for a Québec Selection Certificate
• Can the main application be filled by hand or it has to be typed? Both its up to u If it has to be typed, then must the letters be in CAPs or normal letters?  Not caps lock on
• Should my wife mention my name in section 4 of the main application “family member who may or may not be accompanying you in Quebec”? Or no need since I am the main applicant and she is the one who is accompanying me? yes she has to write your name there
• My wife is expected to finish her MBA program by June 2011. So do we need to mention this diploma in section 8 of the main application “Education, excluding elementary school” or not? No, when u fininsh then just send her degree and transcript and update her file later, before they will not consider Because the column there says the “Name of Diploma Obtained”? If not, then where can we mention this?

2. Payment of fees required

here it is clearly mention

Method of payment

Only the following payment methods are accepted:

credit card (if you mail in your application, you must fill in the form Payment by credit card (Dynamic PDF, 376 Kb), sign it and attach it to your application);
certified cheque (international or drawn on a Canadian bank);
cashier's cheque;
cheque issued by a Canadian company;
Canada Post money order;
bank draft or international money order

http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/biq/damascus/dcs-workers/fees.html
3. Required appendices

• My wife has bachelor degree in medical laboratory technology but all her experience is in banking sector as business analyst. so does she need to fill the “Declaration by a candidate practicing a regulated profession or trade in Québec” ?
NO, but its up to u if she is interesting job in her medical laboratory field then she can other wise no
Thank you so much guys in advance..

i am sorry coz i did ask again but every BIQ has its instruction and i got confused
HK BIQ needs IMM0008 to be filled and sent with the file and i think its the only BIQ which asks for this
and i dont know if this form (IMM0008) needs some extra personal photos or not, and if it should follow the instruction of federal photo section

Thank you again

My friend,

I pasted my photos and my wife's photos and In a small pocket I sent additional 4 photos for each of us to BIQ Hk, and I got my file number in 15 days without any problem.

I would like to suggest you to apply as soon as possible if you meet all the conditions, because the number of application are increasing everyday and that could delay the processing of your file enormously.

Good luck

Hi Baver,

1. Though they ask for test scores like IELTS/TOEFL to substantiate your claims on lang. proficiency, it is also acceptable to send in a letter from the university / workplace attesting that your medium of education/work was in english.

I suggest that you send in the old scoresheet, attach a letter from your workplace and also mention in your covering letter that all your education/work was in eng. and if required you can take a test & send the scores.

2. Yes, you can do this. claim the level that you think you can achieve in 6-12 months and work towards that level. Also attach some registration slips/something like to show your current enrollment in a french course.

3. You can just get it notarised by a public notary / as applicable in your country of residence.

4. Turkey is covered by the BIQ, Damascus. But coz of some problems in damascus, all files have been shifted to Montreal.

BIQ, Damascus
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/biq/damascus/index.php

5. Financial self-sufficiency form will do for now.

6. not sure about this. Maybe your PHD from US could be considered equivalent. not sure. check it up.

Hi All,

First of all thanks for putting a nice thread here. It is very informative. I took self-assesment test for Quebec immigration and I am qualified for that. I am trying to gather documents for the CSQ application. I have couple questions here folks. If you can answer them that would be great.

1. I worked in USA for nine years. I have a TOEFL score from 2002. I am planning to send a copy of TOEFL examination with my application. Would it be sufficient to show that I have advanced English or should i take IELTS?

2. I do not have French knowledge. I am going to use some online sources to learn French. Can i put my french knowledge as beginner level 1 as by the time interview takes place i am sure i will improve my French?

3.For documents, "include with your application photocopies certified by the institution that issued the original document or by the duly authorized legal authority of the originals and the official translations, in English or French, of the following documents:
your diplomas and certificates (excluding those pertaining to primary studies), and those of your spouse, if any;"

I got my PhD in USA. So should i get a certified copy of my phd diploma from my school in USA or will a notarized copy be sufficient? There is no way I can go to US to get a certified copy of my diploma from the same institution that issued it.
Do these diplomas include high school diploma also? My high school diploma is in Turkish. Should i get that translated and notarized also? Which one is first? Notarized copy and then certified translation or the other way around?

4. Where do I send my application? I live in Turkey. I could not find where i should send my application from the website.

5. Do i need to send a bank statement or sending signed contract respecting financial self-sufficiency document will be enough for now?

6."Are any of the diplomas entered under Question 8 Québec diplomas or their equivalent and found among these choices:" Which one should i choose for the following question? My BS is in chemistry In Turkey and PhD is in Chemistry in USA.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi guys,

• Can I submit 2 applications in parallel? i.e. I will be the principle applicant for one application and my wife will be the principle applicant for the second application ??

• Is it a must to have a cover letter?  what things should we mention/can be mentioned in the cover letter ?

• My occupation is in the List of Preferred Areas of Training. How would this improve my chances ? is it only by getting the extra points for that OR by faster processing times OR by waving the interview ?

Many thanks...

• Is it a must to have a cover letter?  what things should we mention/can be mentioned in the cover letter ?
It is not manadatory to have a cover letter at all but it will make a good impression on the immigration officer as well as you may explain many thing that you can't just by attaching your documents. You can also attach a list of documents you are enclosing for your application. You need to arrange your application, in the order that is given on your BIQ website's required documents list.
• My occupation is in the List of Preferred Areas of Training. How would this improve my chances ? is it only by getting the extra points for that OR by faster processing times OR by waving the interview ?
This will make you eligible for faster processing. Interview waving depends on different factor in which one is Preferred Area of Training but the most important factor is French as well as  your qualifying score. If you achieve 55 for a single applicant and 63 for a joint application without adaptability points, the chances are higher to get waived for the interview.
And try to submit your application as soon as possible : )

Many thanks...

Technically speaking once you land  in Quebec and get your PR card you should be able to move out, But this might be a problem during you apply for your passport thats what i have heard from people.

When it comes to Quebec i dont think so thats a right decesion to make as Quebec is a very nice place to settle down. I dont think there should be any difficulty in finding a job within a month or two. Montreal has lot of job opportunity.
If i get my Immigration done successfully done i would either settle in Laval or Montreal Smiley

Cheers
