Thanks Angel eye: If I compare my points with yours, here's where I stand - I am in India:

level of schooling: 6 vs 10 out of 12 (as I have a Bachelors in Science, 2001)
Area of training: 0 vs 0 out of 16
work experience: 8 vs. 4 out of 8 (i have 9 years of expereince)
Age: 16 vs. 16/16
french: 4 vs. 0 out of 16 (i can clear upto A2 in the next 6 months)
english: 6 vs. 6 out of 6
stay in quebec: 0 vs. 0 out of 5
family in quebec: 0 vs. 0 out of 3
employment offer: 0 vs. 0 out of 10
children: 4 vs. 0 out of 8 (I have 1 kid)
financial self sufficiency: 1 vs. 1 out of 1

Can I not apply?

for all those members, who are asking for points breakup, frankly speaking im not sure about my points as initially they refused me on the points that I claimed, but later on they called me for interview. the points breakup that I got in the refusal letter was as follow:

level of schooling: 10/12 (as I have a masters degree)
Area of training: 0/16 (i have a chemistry degree, which should be awarded 12 points but they gave 0)
work experience: 4/8 (i had more than 48 months of expeirience, but they gave me 4)
Age: 16/16
french: 0/16 (i dint claim any points)
english: 6/6
stay in quebec: 0/5
family in quebec: 0/3
employment offer: 0/10
children: 0/8
financial self sufficiency: 1/1

now its upto you what you conclude out of it  Tongue

Hello all,

Do people get extra points if they do Masters degree courses through distance learning/online? Say an MBA or PGDBA or PGDM course from Symbiosis, IMT or SMU India?

I am at 6 points because of my B.Sc 2001, if yes, do I get 12 then?

Regards,

Yes, for Quebec, distance learning Masters are valid - I was told by people here. 2 points I think.

Thanks Nevillek -

But why 2 points only? Why not full 6 points in my case - total 12? http://www.canadavisa.com/quebec-immigration-education.html

Also, what about 1 year Executive MBA? Do they make any distinction between 1 year, 2 years, 3 years MBA?

Regards,

I meant 2 extra points for your Masters. So totally 12 for Level of Education.

Not sure about that. You already have the maximum points anyway for Level of Education which is 12.

Thanks for the information nirav but 2 lawyers told me that as Chemistry comes under University education which is total 16 years of education in Quebec, Indian 15 years education will not get 12 points.
So I am afraid that I will get 0 or what?

Hello Janki

You will get 6 points for your education (Bachelors) and 12 points for the training (since you have done three yrs in CHemistry)

It is documented by the quebec authorities..follow the link I have sent you earlier

Dear Quebec2012 and Nevillek

As per my knowledge Masters & Phd's will any way get 12 pts for their education. It doesnt matter whether it is in distance mode/ offline / online etc

Experts please comment..
