Hello Sharptooth,

I have been following to the 'New Intake Rules for QSW'. I have an urgent question on the following lines; This is the para 3 of the new immigration rules published.

"This diploma was obtained less than five years before the date of your application."

Can you please explain. If for instance I'm full filling all the other requirements mentioned with the fact that I and my spouse has both obtained our degrees in 2004. Is that means we BOTH need to have at least 1 year of experience?

Looking forward to hear soon on this, thanks.

Bilal

you need to have finished your diploma within the last 5 years before applying if not then you need 1 year experience  which must be related to your degree in order to apply
the most easy way to check eligibility is through these series of steps in decreasing order of importance
1.open the pdf link of areas of training which is in french but understandable easily, check whther your degree is getting 6 or 12 points.
if it is ticked then yes otherwise no. look at the diplome etranger column only if you have a foreign degree and not quebec one , many make mistake of looking at the quebec diplome column which is only for students in quebec.if first step is ok then go to next step otherwise you are not eligible to apply
2.check the no. of years of ur degree and it should be same or more than quebec for ex. baccalaureat takes 4 years as per aot list so your batchelors in computers or chemical or whatever should be of atleast 4 years if ok then go to next step
3. now after clearing first step calculate years passed since u got ur degree either less than 5 or more if less than 5 no need to go to step 3 just apply ASAP. if more than 5 then step 3
4. chek whether ur experience is related to ur profession if not then don't apply if yes then u are eligible

Well, I havent called as yet. Tried to email them because I had just received my e-TefaQ official results. So I had wanted to know if I should send them in. Havent received a response, so I guess I'll just continue waiting. I had qualified with 0 French anyway, so Im just keeping my fingers crossed.

 @  Fiirm,

The most important thing is knowing how to speak French.However, sitting for the french test will also help in learning the language with more vigor.
hope it helps.

BIOLAH

 @  koreantoquebec,
Why don't you write an email to BIQ with your question? Typically, they respond in a week's time.

Best of luck!

thanks!!

 @ Indian4mSA, what application form did you use? the one that was available at the time I did mine had to be handwritten. It wasnt until later that a new form was posted on the site that could be filled in electronically.

Dear Sharptooth,

I have the following break of the points (ref: canadavisa,com);

education=10,  Areas of training=12 , work expereince=8, Age=16, language=6, Spouse education=3, Spouse Areas of Training=0, Spouse Age=3, Child=8, financial=1
Total= 67

Question is, if I have like 67 points without counting on 6 points of adaptability in interview or even without having claiming French Language points, will it be wise to go on with the case? Or do you strongly suggest to have put some time in to French language preparation?

Looking to hear from you soon;

Bilal

Friends,

A quick but interesting question.

My educational degree "Computer Science" (2+2) (2 Yr. Bachelor+ 2 Yr. Masters) (Total 16 Yrs.) falls both in following. Which should I consider. Points with 12,16 OR only 6?

1- DOMAINES DE FORMATION PERMETTANT D'OBTENIR 12 OU 16 POINTS À LA GRILLE DE SÉLECTION (12 or 16 points Area of Training document) with Code U115

AND

2- DOMAINES DE FORMATION PERMETTANT D'OBTENIR 6 POINTS À LA GRILLE DE SÉLECTION (6 points Area of Training document) with Code U115

Thanks,
Bilal

They will give you 6 points for that.

Hi Manoj and nevillek,

Thanks for the reply and about my french language skills, Me and my wife gave DELF A1 and got the scores above 16 so I considered 4 points and I am planning to give DELF A2 in august.

Now my questions are

1. As I am short of one point Can I submitting the application now and submit the A2 certificate later?

2. I got the provisional certificate for DELF A1 and will get the original certificate on mid august, So can I submit the application with provisional certificate?

Here are my points:

Training
   Education                 12
   Area of Training           6
WorkExperiance              8
Age                            16
Language Proficiency      6
Family and Stay in Quebec   0
Spouse Characterastics      7
Validated Employment Offer   0
Children                      0
Self Sufficiency              1

Total                            56

Hi kumarpk,

Do you have knowledge of French? If not, why don't you first sign up for basic French course at the nearest Alliance Francaise? If you and your spouse pass DELF A1, then you will earn 4 more points. At that point, submit your application and continue learning French for at least DELF B1 level. I am sure, you know that you will need total 63 points including 6 Adaptability points later at interview stage. As you can see, learning French is absolutely necessary in your Quebec project.

Québec considers knowledge of French an important selection criterion for immigrants.

Immigration candidates with insufficient knowledge of French to be selected may be referred to certain language schools.

After you make your decision to immigrate to Québec, enroll in a recognized French language school and increase your chances of being selected.

Good luck!!
