Friends, please help, everyone is giving me a different answer for this. Does anyone have definite proof that I should mark NO for all points?

I have a Bachelors+Masters in Commerce from India and have experience as Accounting Assistant.

I have a slight confusion in Q.4. of the Application for Selection Certificate:

Are you the holder of one or several of the following diplomas:

1) Quebec diploma 2) Canadian diploma 3) Diploma or training recognized as equivalent by a Quebec regulatory body 4) Foreign diploma covered by a Mutual Recognition Agreement (ARM)

IS NO.3. RELATED TO ONLY REGULATED PROFESSIONS IN QUEBEC? I DON'T THINK SO. HERE, IT IS SAYING DIPLOMA/TRAINING CONSIDERED EQUIVALENT BY A QUEBEC REGULATORY BODY. THAT IS A DIFFERENT THING I THINK. EVEN Y-AXIS TOLD ME TO MARK POINT NO.3. THAT IS WHY I AM ASKING IF SOMEONE KNOWS FOR SURE WHAT I MUST MARK?

If I mark NO for all 4 blindly, they may not give me any points for training!!!

Also, if you guys remember, the 'Tableaux comparatifs de diplômes' (http://www.cicic.ca/682/tableaux-comparatifs-de-diplomes-quebec.canada) is specifically made to show equivalence between Indian and Quebec degrees. The page is out of service right now but I remember seeing an older version of the PDF where my degree was in the list. That means it's equivalent to a Quebec degree right??? So shouldn't I be marking no.3.Huh?

Kindly also check this page: http://www.cicnews.com/2011/06/education-top-marks-quebec-skilled-worker-program-06991.html  Under Education, 2nd para says:

The Government of Quebec has provided the Tableaux Comparatifs des Diplômes, which is a table that compares foreign degrees to their equivalent Quebec degrees; however this document is only available in French and can be very complex. Applicants who do not know how their degree equates to a Quebec degree are encouraged to have their degree evaluated by the Centre d'expertise sur les formations acquises hors du Québec or by consulting with a lawyer who is knowledgeable in Quebec immigration.

PLEASE REPLY URGENTLY! Should I check point 3 or not???

Hope, red.mistry's response clears the doubt regarding Question 3. It seems, he clarified it with BIQ. I recently submitted my application and now wondering if I did the right thing while filling out the forms.

Remember, cicnews.com is hosted by an immigration lawyer David Cohen. No doubt, it recommends to consult a lawyer!! I would like to verify anything which is not on the official websites. Well, that's me.

Matrix1980,

If you want points for languages - then you need to send the original scoresheets along with the application. Currently, there is no provision to apply now and update later.

Actually, i just started French language and i think i can pass the TCF/TCFQ easly.
BTW, do you think any new changes will be made on 1 July ?

Thank you.

Hi red.mystry, can you please tell us what does point 3 indicate? Is it for regulated professions only? If yes, then why do all of us have to mark NO for it? Let's say I am an Accountant, which is a regulated profession,  should I mbe marking YES in that case?

Thanks so much.

All should be marked no. No. 4 only applies to diplomas issued in France, No. 3 applies to professions regulated in Quebec. These questions are used to determine if you fall in category 1 or 2.

Here is a link to all regulated professions:http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/employment/regulated-professions/professional-order.html

If your profession is listed here and you have successfully applied and obtained your license, you may then select No. 3.
@ nevillek I hope this answers your question.

Hi All,
Please go through the following link
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/permanent-workers/official-immigration-application/requirements-programs/glossary.html

It is mentioned under EDUCATION SECTION
a foreign diploma or training leading to the practice of a regulated profession or trade in Québec, if you have already received authorization to practise this occupation in Québec;

So you can mark yes only if you have received authorization to practice this occupation in Quebec.

Hi harit79,

Am doing pretty good, apart from the frustration of waiting for the interview calls and stuff. Thanks ! How are you holding out ?
No updates at all from BIQ.

I took a break after completing my B1. planning to appear for DELF B1 in August.
taking a break was a bad idea maybe, coz my writing skills have seriously deteriorated ! The only connection I have with french are the french movies i watch and me & my wife try to talk to each other in francais.   Grin

Hey Vibez,
How are you doing buddy?
Any updates from BIQ? Most probably you and yogie will be the next in queue for interview.
How's your preparation going on for french?
How many modules you have cleared so far?

Matrix1980,

I've always been pro DELF !! reason is that it allows you to take a test based on your level. Tests like TEF etc which have a common test and then find your current level are like swimming in deep waters. you never know how it will go. But then it also offers unexpected bounty of getting a higher level that what you actually are... which is great from a scoring point of view.

These July 1 changes are all aimed at the FSW guys I think. Les Quebecois dont have any such fixed dates hehe... they announce things whenever they feel like it !  Wink

Actually, i just started French language and i think i can pass the TCF/TCFQ easly.
BTW, do you think any new changes will be made on 1 July ?
Thank you.

For those who are MBA holders,

Many of you are frustrated because you don't know how many points you'll get for Areas of Training. I was in the same situation until I found this paragraph in the GPI-3:

"Un diplôme universitaire de cycle supérieur à celui indiqué à la Liste des domaines de formation est évalué de la même façon que s'il était de même niveau de cycle. Par exemple, un DESS en administration des affaires au Québec doit être évalué, en vertu de la liste, comme un baccalauréat en administration des affaires"

This means your MBA degree will be treated as "Administration des affaires (BACC. - 3 ans)".

You'll get 12 points if your degree is from Quebec/Canada/France. Otherwise you'll get 6 points.

Hope this help.

I have just appeared in DELF A2 exam. Waiting for result.
Planning to start DELF B1 classes from Af in August.
Right now just collecting information and putting at one place, so it will be easy during the interview process.
I know it will take ages for the interview  Wink Wink.
BTW do you have list of good French movies that can be easily understand?
