I just want to warn you that once you get to Quebec and live here for 3 years and apply for your citizenship it will take you close to 2 years to get it if you are lucky. If you travel a lot or had resided in US at some point it will take you an additional 2-3 years (the dreaded RQ process).
I just wish someone had told me this before I've decided to come to reside in Canada.
For more info see the official processing times for canadian citizenship on cic.gc.ca. note that only 80% of applicants get it in less that 19 months.

Hey guys,

Quick question, is "Work Experience" an important factor for the Quebec Skilled Worker? Must an applicant have atleast 6 months experience or can they get away with having none because I don't have any work experience but i may have enough points from the other factors such as age, language, education... etc.

Thanks

To all,

This thread is strictly for QSW although any input from virtually anyone is appreciated.
WHo has already applied for Quebec?
Who is planning to apply for Quebec?

Yes it's after CSQ, its only for federal part

CIC uses 3 computer systems for processing immigration / visa applications. Historically, they used the CAIPS computer system in CIC offices outside of Canada, and the FOSS system for applications being dealt with in Canada. CIC is now rolling out a new computer system called GCMS (Global Case Management System) for use in both Canadian and international offices, but this is not yet complete.

CAIPS FileCheck can help you get a printout of your CAIPS/FOSS/GCMS file from the CIC computer systems. Your file should have valuable information on the current status and future processing of your application for a Canadian Permanent Residents Visa. Immigration files are also available for student, work permit and other visa applications.
Thanks Bachar Smiley

Thanks for that information. Definitely helpful. 2 years for citizenship processing is a LOT!
I saw the link but it does not mention anything about US residents. I live in US too and that's why I'm concerned.

I got my interview date a few hours ago. I had totally forgotten about this whole process as I had received very little input from the Mexico BIQ.

I applied on August 1 and received my AOR 3 weeks later.

Thanks to everybody for the great input in this forum.
