Hello coolguy!

Appreciate helping me in my case... I am working and living in UAE. I need to know how strog my case is and what to impove before submitting my application

My information is as below:

I am married and expecting my first baby in 2 months.
I have a bachelor degree in Computer and Information Systems from University of Aleppo (Syria)  graduated in 2008, and my wife has a Diploma (2 years) in commerce and a university degree in commerce (3 years) graduated in 2007
I have 9 years of experience in study related filed 3 of which in the UAE as Senior IT System & Infrastructure Support/Developer At a multinational company
My wife has 9 years of experience in study related field (Accountant), 3 of which as Income Auditor (Syria).
We both have several training courses/certificates in our respective professions.
We are currently living in UAE.
My French oral comprehension and oral expression is minimal while my English is advanced in both. My wife doesn't know French and her English is intermediate.
We do not have an immediate family member in Canada. I only have my cousin in Montréal.
We did not have the chance to go to Canada earlier.

1- where do i have to submit my application? Abu Dhabi or damascus?
2.       Regarding submitting the application; can I update my file later? I mean, is that OK for me submit the application and append it later on with my IELTS certificate for example?

3.       I have a bachelor degree in Computer and Information Systems (MIS) from University of Aleppo (Open/Distance learning). Would they give my full points for this? In which category my training falls? Is it under: Undergraduate diploma of university studies - 3, 4 or 5 years (in Québec, the diploma is obtained after completing 16 to 18 years of full-time education)

4.       When do I have to show a “proof of funds”? Upon submitting the application?  How much money should I have?

5.       I start to work since 2002, however, I was in the university at the same time; would they consider the years of my work experience during studying years?

6.       Would it be more suitable for me to be the main applicant or for my wife?

7.       What is the ideal level of IELTS that I should get to prove an advanced English level?

8.       Do they accredit DELF to prove a command in French language?

Thank you very muvh in advance for answering my questions.

Hi Amirjs,

Since you are expecting a baby after 2 months, I suggest you to apply after baby's birth and after getting his/her passport.

For Quebec applicants, IELTS is not mandatory. You need to concentrate more on French.

Please find my reply below to questions:-

Hello coolguy!

1- where do i have to submit my application? Abu Dhabi or damascus?  Damascus

2.       Regarding submitting the application; can I update my file later? I mean, is that OK for me submit the application and append it later on with my IELTS certificate for example?  Yes, you can update it later

3.       I have a bachelor degree in Computer and Information Systems (MIS) from University of Aleppo (Open/Distance learning). Would they give my full points for this? In which category my training falls? Is it under: Undergraduate diploma of university studies - 3, 4 or 5 years (in Québec, the diploma is obtained after completing 16 to 18 years of full-time education) Not sure for this one.

4.       When do I have to show a “proof of funds”? Upon submitting the application?  How much money should I have? Please refer cic.gc.ca

5.       I start to work since 2002, however, I was in the university at the same time; would they consider the years of my work experience during studying years?  If you have more than 4 years , that would be enough.

6.       Would it be more suitable for me to be the main applicant or for my wife? Not sure for this one.
7.       What is the ideal level of IELTS that I should get to prove an advanced English level? Intermediate is required. Advance is better, if possible.
8.       Do they accredit DELF to prove a command in French language? Yes.

Thank you very muvh in advance for answering my questions.

Thank you Coolguy for your reply. can you please ask someone that you think he can answer the questions that you aren't sure about? i.e. 3 and 6. question 6 is the most important one. maybe visaexpert can help?

for question 1: are they making interviews in Abu Dhabi then?
for questions 5: no, total experience after graduation is 2.5 years. that's why i do care about my work experience before graduation

can you help me calculate my points with the above information supposing that i have a baby?

Many Thanks.  Smiley
