My brother went today to the BIQ in Mezzeh, Damascus, and he saw the files piling up in the front yard of the office! They are closing by the end of this month!!!

The receptionist informed him that all operations are to be held in Montreal, and the following tel. and fax nos.:

Medo, Anthony et tout le monde, merci a vous.J'ai doit envoye rapidment les resultates et je pense envoyer aussi le test d'anglais (IELTS), mais le IELTS s'est pas nouveau, mon diplome a expire en 2007, car il est valable 2 ans....mais de tout le facon je veut l'envoyer avec le TCF.
Medo pas de nouvelle pour ton entervue?
Combien nous devrions d'attandre???

I didn't get my file number... Do you think it is normal?

Yes is normal, and do not forget that now they closed the embassy in Damascus, they will be a little late till they will send the AOR.Do not worry, u have nothing to worry now, just wait and be patient. hey will take around 12 month or even 15 before they send ur request for medicals..Good luck

I sent few of my remaining documents on 3rd April 2011 to Damascus office.

How will I know that documents are reached or not?

Could any body guess how long will it take to receive an interview invitation?

I just want to share with you the latest news, although we have completed our process at Damascus and got our CSQs, currently our file is processed at Abu Dhabi for PR. We have received an e-mail confirming that:

DAMASCUS office is closed, all files transfered to MONTREAL. See e-mail below:

Fermeture du Bureau d'immigration du Québec à Damas et rapatriement des activités à Montréal

Le ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles informe sa clientèle et ses partenaires que le Bureau d'immigration du Québec à Damas est dorénavant fermé.

Les activités d'immigration qui s'y tenaient sont dorénavant réalisées à partir des bureaux du Ministère à Montréal.

Le Ministère tient à rassurer sa clientèle et ses partenaires quant à son engagement à poursuivre ses opérations en provenance du Moyen-Orient, avec la même diligence, le plus rapidement possible. Les entrevues de sélection menées par le Ministère avec les candidats en provenance du Moyen-Orient seront réalisées sur des territoires voisins facilement accessibles pour la clientèle. Il s'agit d'une pratique courante pour le Ministère sur plusieurs territoires.
Veuillez noter qu'en raison du rapatriement des activités à Montréal, vous recevrez la lettre confirmant l'ouverture de votre dossier dans un délai plus long. Soyez cependant assuré que notre Direction vous fera parvenir cette lettre aussitôt que votre dossier sera ouvert. Celui-ci sera considéré en traitement à partir de ce moment-là. Si votre dossier est en cours de traitement à notre bureau, nous répondrons à votre demande uniquement si le délai de traitement dépasse la norme de service énoncée.

Autrement, notez que nous avons reçu votre message et que le traitement de votre demande suit son cours. N'oubliez pas de tenir compte des délais postaux de votre pays avant de communiquer avec nous pour effectuer un suivi. Votre envoi peut souvent prendre plusieurs semaines à nous parvenir.

hey wdOnCanada,

sure it's very normal, it takes in average around 45 days to get AOR and don't forget about the political situation in Syria. so it may takes a longer time.
please share with us your timeline as we are so close in our process...

Guys u have any idea if i can apply for federal part after i receive my CSQ if i am pregnant???Or i should wait first to have the baby, obtain a CSQ for him and after that applying for federal part???
Or i can apply normaly and after i deliver and obtain the CSQ send him to them??

i didn't send French language certificate with my application. but now i made the DELF exam,  should i send the DELF certificate  or should i keep it with me till the interview? and if i should send it should it be by post or by email and to which address, Damascus office or Montreal?

I kept my original DELF certificate with me, I asked the issuing center to do a copy for me and then certify it with their seal. Then I sent the certified copy with my CSQ application. When called for interview, one must bring all original certificates with him.

Where did you do your DELF exam?
