Hello guys, yesterday i met a family coming from Montreal, and they told me that rules were changes for citizenship , and now u have to wait 10 years in order to obtain Canadian passport, and not 3 like before. So for those who were thinking to stay 3 years , obtain the passport and be back in Gulf to work....forget it !
If this will be true; then it is a real disaster! But something dangerous like this will be announced officially not like a gossip. From my point of view; I rule out this news and I think it is unlikely to be true... They have already changed the intake for CSQ and returned all applications submitted after Feb 2008; so this is enough for one year I think! Anyways; let's wait and see... but I don't think this will happen... this is just too extreme! Guys; what do you think?!

hi frend, how did u know that u are exempted from the interview? did they sent u a letter? thanks
Genona, The main purpose of being invited to an interview is to test your language skills and your abilities in communication in french. Usually, you will not be noticed officially about your exemption...you'll know once you receive your CSQ.

Ricoluna is right... I have my girl friend she live in montrea She told me about 6 years taking . Ricoluna's close relative lives in montreal.. So dont say crap Ummr just keep this info, just do ur search Permanent resident status To become a Canadian citizen, you must have permanent resident status in Canada, and that status must not be in doubt. This means you must not be the subject of an immigration investigation, an immigration inquiry or a removal order (an order from Canadian officials to leave Canada). Time lived in Canada To become Canadian citizens, adults must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years before applying. Children under the age of 18 do not need to meet this requirement. You may be able to count time you spent in Canada before you became a permanent resident if that time falls within the four-year period. read this sources http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp#status

I really don't know why everyone panicked about the news, why do you care if you want to settle and live permanently in Quebec. I thought you guys wanted to live in a better place not just have a passport on hand, in a place where the person has full rights, in a place suitable to raise a family. But it seems most of you don't... Personally, I don't even care if it was 12 years as long as I have the same rights as the citizens (except voting) and I intend to live in a great country for the rest of my life and not in this fkn farm called Lebanon.

BRAVO JET, this exactly what i think...i don't care if they will give us passports in 10 or 15 years!!! as long as i have the same rights like any other Canadian citizen...i live the life i want...i don't see where is the problem?? I also believe is very good if thy change the laws and yes it's an upcoming law...to become canadian citizen u must deserve it first...to prove this is normal to need 10 years. For those who were having other plans....stay home !
