TEFAQ here we come!

Where do i get the books, details etc, do i need to attend a class? are you attending any classes?

Since i declared zero in my application for the french language, do you think they will still give us a chance? was it important to have at least put some marks for french in the application so they know we are working on it?

Sorry i am bombarding you with all these questions. I  greatly appreaciate your help.

Did you enrol for a french course? guys need your advise please. i specifically mentioned in my application that i am zero in french,and since i recently submitted my application with no idea whether i will be accepted or not,should i proceeed with the Tcf quebec? or should i at least wait fot the AOR??

I am enrolled at AF.

Since you have applied after December 6th, then your application will be treated based on the new roles. This means no points will be given for your french skills even if you submitted exams results. However, I still highly advice you to take french course and do the exam as well. Because the officer have the right to give you up to 6 points during your interview, and definitely showing him/her that you have took french courses and did the exam will show how serious you are about going to Quebec.

I totally agree with Osama, but in your case as you said you already studied in your university the basic level course will not be very helpful, they will check ur level of french and accordingly they will put you in the level you need to start from

Remebr : They are only concerned with two things   1) your official result e.g. DELF, TCF or TEFAQ    2)french communication with the interviewer at the time of interview.

they dont care you learn french from whereever but the level of french should be upto the acceptable level considered by the interview officer. you may consider it as up to intermediate level.

TCF has four parts to study, read, write, speak, and listen
where as TEFAQ has only two parts listening and speaking, TEFAQ is purely designed for Quebec applicant, which is good because it has only two parts, listening and speaking and even they are not very difficult if someone has good listening

But even some body has good points without french still, he/she might be refused if no french, the interveiw will be purly in french. so it is must the good thing is that there is 150 possible interview french questions some one has forwarded to me if some one read them with loud voice will make easy interview

well there was one friend of rico who was refused because he could not understand the questions.

hi , im also applicant here in dubai, got my aor last aug. and waiting for my interview..im thinking of taking tefaq, any idea...how often it is being given in dubaiand how much the fees for it and if there is any reviewer for this??

Hello Mazhar and Kiki welcome on board..,
Kiki I suggest u to take the TCF for Quebec, is not 4 parts as Mazhar is saying, is 2 parts and the advantage of it is that if u give a wrong answer u don't get -1 for each wrong answer as u get in TEFAQ test.
Mazhar i think u will take the TEFAQ right??? if u are not sure of the answer leave it without answer, couse for any wrong answer u get -1.
In TCF for quebec is not the same, for this for me is much better.
Kikki u have a good file, Mazhar calculated ur points....u will only get points for the area of training only and only if u have obtained ur diploma in the last 5 years or if u have work experience in ur area of education ( for example u can have an IT diploma but have worked in other field, u don't get points in ur area of training)
Also as soon as u can have ur TCF Quebec test and send it to them.U shoud enter the forum before u applied , u should not declare 0 french, u did same mistake as Mazhar....at least u could have declared A2 level, and get points...it's late now to analyze this, just have ur test as soon as possible and send it

Hi Kikki,

There is no must in learning french since there are cases where applicants know very very basic french and they pass the interview. But knowing french, especially for the main applicant, will enrich the file. So if your husband has no issue with learning french then go for it. This will even show how you both are more serious and prepared, you will leave no gap or excuse for the interview not to give you the 6 points for eligibility.

As I said in the  beginning, the best person on this fourm with latest infor is "Chere Ricoluna".  I am doing TEFAQ as per Ricoluna. Ricoluna sent me TCF books for preparation for TEFAQ. I misunderstood as i saw different activity and i though TEFAQ is rather better. Yes i knew when i paid fee in AF that every wrong answer will deduct -1 mark in TEF but i did not know that it is not the case in TCF.

I am preparing all my preparation from the lessons that a friend of mine has given to me, if you want i can give those 16 class-lectures to you as well. I believe they are better than studing AF as each level in AF will cost around AED 2000/- and to reach TEF or TCF level one has to study all 4 levels, even AF recommends up to 6 level to be sutided before appearing in TEF.

Hello Kiki, as for the new regulations started Jan 1st u are obliged to send ur TCF tests only if u claim points for ur french.In ur case u did not claim any points for french, so u are not obliged to send any tests, but this will decrees from ur chance.Now any level u will get in the tests is a plus for u and for ur husband too.Let him also take the test, even if he gets 1-2 points is good.Any point counts.Good luck dear

I should proceed with TCF Quebec, i don't think its offered in  AF Abu Dhabi or i am not really sure. I have gone through the website but did not get any details. I think the next test date is 24th March 2012 in Dubai. I will go for this date then.

Yes, i will really appreciate getting the books or any material that will help me with the test. I am not planning to take any classes from AF as quite expensive.

I would like u to evaluate ur current french level first of all then you have to decide how much time u will need to over come the deficiency or reached up to the level of taking TCF or TEF.
if you book a seat by paying 750 or 800 in dubai and if u r not prepared for that then you will lose money. please review and see where u stand.

I have decided after studying for many months at home. still improving my listening, but i have learnt all tenses, i can form sentences and can walking in french now.
I am not in favor of your hurrying up for the exam. If you study the material that i have, u and ur husband will be able to speak at upper beginning level very soon and slowly slowly will improve to reach intermediate level.

remember u have almost 6 months time for your interview so you can better prepare well then go for exam.
