3-4 weeks, usually, from the date of receipt of ur docs @ VO.

1)I browse safehomestay and overseashome for my short accomodation but couldn't get the monthly charge for Fully furnished one bed apartment with bathroom and kitchen for overseashome?Could you kindly tell me monthly charges for overseashome if you know?What type of meal they have for 5 dollars?Indian cuisine or anyother?
As safehomestay is 1530 dollars per month ,don't know about overseashome?

2)Secondly,I want  accomodation  with Pakistani /Indian restaurants near by ,library,subways and cheaper grocery and clothing stores?In both safehomestay and overseas home which should I choose for my priorities?I also sure will go for sight seeing .

3)Could you kindly name some cheaper stores for grocery,woman and children clothing(2-10 age),halal chicken and meat shops in Toronto and Brampton/Missisauga?What is the price of 1 kg chicken and 1 kg meat/minced meat in Toronto?Primary schooling bookstores in Toronto and Brampton/Missisauga?
I am coming from Saudi Arabia so should I take dry spices for cooking there?Is there any restriction on dry /ground spices and nimko (dry snacks)?Hav little baby of 2 years so can I take 2 or 3 large powder milk cans for a month usage for her?and also pampers 2 large packs?

4)In May how is the weather?Should I take some winter clothing for myself and kids?what type of?

-Guest houses generally come for $1250/month for an indep. bedroom. While a Motel could cost u around $2000-2200/month for a studio. If u cannot get thru www.safehomestay.com try Studio6 or Motel6. Both r pretty good.

-Most guest houses r located that way. Including an Indian/Sub-continent's Grocery Store nearby. And they'd be co-located to a TTC stop/Bus stop. Both Safehomestay & Overseas Home r such. However, if u chose Motels - they'd have that 'walking-distance' bus stop/TTC and some groceries/malls nearby - but an Indian/Sub-continent's might not.

-Usually, if grocery stores aren't nearby or not ur type, u could safely shop @ Walmart, Freshco, NoFrills, Metro, Food Basic's & the likes, for ur daily needs. They also have an area for Halal food/s. Note: Halal Chicken is pricier than the normal chicken though.A normal chicken would go for $4-6 a pound, while a Halal one would go up by another $1-2. U'd not need book stores for ur kids. Edn material/s r supplied by the school, for FREE. For ur other daily utilities the Dollar Stores r good enough, unless u chose to shop @ Sears, Zellers, Bay etc. [not recommended for a newcomer].

-All those items r easily available here, in most groceries & branded food outlets. And they aren't that expensive. However, if u must, u could bring-in some, for running a week or so. 'Coz, how much can u carry anyway? Remember, meat, dairy & poultry products, incl seeds & soil, aren't permitted to be brought-in. The BSO's @ A/port will confiscate those if u carry.

-Winters should be over by early May. And this time it's likely to have an early spring anyway [Global Warming!] However, if u carry a jacket each, a sweater & a pair of gloves - u'd be fine. Thermal innerwears [even in winters] aren't required in Canada - unless u'd be skiing, snow-tubing or spending long hrs. outdoors in snow.

-Here's a very conservative living-cost calc. that I gave to someone:

-House Rent: $700-1300 depending on what/where u locate/chose. Anything less than $700 would be shady!
-Heat & Hydro: If u take a condo, add another $100 a month to the above.
-Cable/Internet/Phone: $125-200 depending ur usage/preferance. Anything less than $125 would be tearsome!
-Conveyance: $100-200 depending on ur efficiency. Anything less than $100 would make u immobile!
-Fuel: Add $200-300 on the above if u have a car. Else u r semi-static... not hapenning 4 u here!
-Auto-Ins.: $400-600 if u buy a car. U may chose not to initially... but down 6 months - u must have [else u might be in deep sh1t]!
-Food: $1200-1700 depending on ur livability. Anything less than $1200 - and u aren't 'alive'!
-Outings: $300-700 depending on ur lifestyle. Anything lesser than $300 would make u socially dead!
-Stationery & consumables: $50-100. Anything less than $50 and u r doing nothing!
-Irregular purchases: $250-400. Anything less than $250 is not happening, here...
-Out-of-pocket expenses: $300-500. Else u r impossible, incorrigible, incognito!
-Kid's welfare: $150-250. If u have kids - u'd understand their addnl requirements!
-Childcare: $300-1000 depending on what u chose [pvt unlicensed to proper daycare]. It'd be if u both work & if kids r minors.
-Misc.: $300-500. U never know from where u'd have a bombshell! If not - it'd be ur safety-net.

-Yes, for a newcomer WINDMobile is the best option. U could have a non-contract plan for as low as $15/month, see below:

-I was with WIND till 2011 [& Bell for my iPhone4], while currently I'm with Mobilicity [& am happy!].

-I fly every 5 months, between Toronto & Dubai, plus elsewhere. I find KLM & BA the most compititive & with good service.
-There's no mandate or set procedure for providing Hotel stay by the airlines, it usually varries between a/line to a/line. However, most carriers will provide u free hotel accom if u have an overnight layover. While some could consider the same on anything over 10-hrs. transit.

I have been seeing your posts since long time and have been suggested by many on the forum to discuss any issues with you.

I am female, 27 currently working in UK for one of the largest banks in the world. I have 5 years of financial industry experience and qualifications including two masters.

I am trying for Canada since 2008. I applied twice for University of Alberta (MBA program), I got admission+scholarship but my visa rejected due to some silly reasons. Then I came to UK but still I want to go for Canada as a worker or immigrant now.

I find the work permit category quite suitable (specialy provincial nomination) but I don't know how to get job. I am investigating many consultants here as well who might have some recruitment agencies in Canada such as David Cohen Law Firm.

Do you have suggestion or advice in this regard, how can I increase my chances of getting job. Do you know any reputable consultant, who could help me arrange jobs. I have applied online for many jobs but employers can't wait for 6-8 months for the me to reach canada and then start work.

Dear Ma'am,

Fetching a Canadian TWP [Work Permit] & TRV [Resident Visa] from abroad is pretty difficult. Most CONsultants would dupe u, and some which may genuinely assist - would cost u a bomb.

That said, the PNP [Provincial Nominee Program] of most Canadian provinces is a wiser option for u. And in that Saskatoon beats others by a barge-pole. Though Manitoba, Alberta & New Brunswick also have a comfortable program on it.

However, if u do not have anyone there, ur best option would be to go thru an agent. And that's a challenge to find one who's sincere... u'd be better off with David Cohen's for sure.

I am waiting for my MR since couple of days..people of same or later timeline than me has got MR/PPR from NDVO..do you have any idea how long may our case will require further at SGVO?

Members of Toronto's Congolese community are marching through the downtown core, in an effort to persuade western governments to help the Democratic Republic of Congo with election reform.



A roving group of protesters are tying up traffic near Yonge and Dundas Streets as they call for the resignation of Congo President Joseph Kabila. The protesters gathered this morning but took to the streets at about 2 p.m. At one point, a couple of demonstrators burned an American flag as they headed south on Yonge Street. At another point, protesters burned a European Union flag.

I have a question guys please advise, I am currently living in Canada and have got passport stamped couple of days ago. I am crossing border this weekend to complete the landing process.
My brother lives in US, so after completing the landing and entering in Canada, on the same day can I go back to US to stay there for a week. Will that be a problem if I don"t start living in canada immediately after landing.

On 8 Dec' 2011, I intimated CHC regarding addition in my family (Birth of my Daughter). On 23 Dec' 2011, I got the mail from CHC asking for documents like my daughter's Birth Certificate photocopy, her Passport photocopy and all the required documents for adding her in the case. These documents were required to be deposited max by 11 Feb' 2012.

On 2 Feb' 2012, I couriered all the documents and the same was recd by them on 3 Feb' 2012.

Now my query is....Should I wait for my daughter's MR to come and then send the PP's with RPRF fees?Huh

   Or should I send me and my Wife's PP and RPRF DD right now as it was raised by CHC before I intimated them about addition in my   family...and then wait for my daughter's MR/ PPR???

Kindly help me out with the relevant information..

dear sir i am in deep trouble. i applied with job offer which was arranged by my agent. my noc is 3131 and applied on 7th oct. i have not got any aor and dd is not encashed. now my agent told me that cic have demanded certain documents like  financial record  and no. of job offer given in last 4 years by the company who provided job letter. i want to know is it a normal process. i think the employer directly send job letter without getting prior approval from hrs dep. cic give 2 months time for this what should i do. kindly help me

Every AEO is scrutinized. The IOs do check the prospective employer's antecedents. In ur case - it returned unsatisfactory - thus those queries.

And yes, many Consultants r also on CIC's radar.

After 'landing' u r free to go out of the country - there's no adversities involved.
BTW, remember the residency requirements, that's it [the 2/5 yr's rule].

U must 'add' ur newborn baby first, get her meds, and await further instructions from ur IO before submitting ur pps.
