Hello all,

This question is regarding validity of the passport during passport request.  We are awaiting our passport request, but the problem we have now is that my wife's passport will expire in March 2011.  Is it a must that the passport be valid for one year during visa stamping?  I am currently in Canada on a work permit, and hopefully if we receive our visa by December, I can land without much delay.  Please offer any insights/suggestions.  Thanks.

Hi, qorax is no more in this forum. But I thought to reply to your question. AFIK there's no requirement of passport validity, however it's good to have it valid till about few months from the PPR. Just for ease of landing.

But, recently I heard that LA is asking for a yr's validity. However, it's not written anywhere in the CIC site. My PPR specifically said that u should have at least 1 empty page & validity of few months.

Thanks ei8ht for the reply.  Does the PPR usually come via email or regular mail (my file was transferred to Seattle)?

Oh OK.  I do not remember if I had ever chosen to be communicated by mail or email on the application.  But I did contact the CHC  once, when I got an automatic email saying that "you are authorizing CIC to use your e-mail address for communication with you".  So, as per your input PPR by email is possible.  Thank you very much.
