Hi All.

I am migrating to canada and wish to know whether my qatar driving licence can be changed to canadian licence. It is similar in qatar as what in canada, mean to say LEFT HAND DRIVE. I have been driving in Qatar since 2004 and have been driving my own vehicle since then.

Pls. advise.

You will need a drivers abstract from your traffic or licensing authority showing your length of driving experience.  With that, you can bypass the waiting time to take the test in Canada but you will still have to take a test.

If you do not provide a drivers abstract, because of the graduated drivers licensing system in every province now, you would in some provinces have to wait for a year before you could take the road test and get a probationary license that allows you to drive alone.  In other provinces, you would be allowed to take the basic road test to get the probationary license right away but would have to wait to take the advanced road test to get a full license.
