PRRA vs SPONSORSHIP

Hello,

I've sponsored my common-law partner at the beginning of February after his refugee claim was denied. We have been together for almost 2 years (in Canada) but as per our lawyer's advice, we needed to wait for that denial (january) to proceed with the sponsorship application.
He is separated from his previous wife and her refugee claim was accepted for her and their 2 children. This off course won't cover him.

This lawyer has said the PRRA would take about 8 months to come back, that would give us some time for the sponsorship application to be reviewed and accepted. What a surprise we had last week when we received a letter advising a decision has been made already and he needs to meet them next April 8th. Again, this lawyer said it's an awckward situation and it is for sure the meeting will be held in order to settle his departure from Canada. All he needs to do is "buy some time" from them explaining his current situation!!

What are our chances in this moment facing a deportation order if the sponsorship application (in canada) process just started?
What would happen with the application if he leaves the country?
Would they take into consideration the economical and emotional impact created by having him to leave? It will not only be about leaving me by myself with my 2 little ones (previous marriage) and all our debts on my shoulders but also separating him from his own children and not being able to receive child support from him?

you have nothing to loose  by initiating a sponsorship application while waiting for the response of the prra. i was told that i my husband did not file an inland sponsorship during my deportation process. your sponsorship for him could support his prra. the only thing is the relationship between him and his ex could cause some concern.

Once more we confirmed with this lawyer if there's any chance for him to stay until the sponsorship application gets approved. Based on his information, he's got "good chances" of not being rejected right away but it is for sure that if a decision has been made on his PRRA, their one goal would be settling down his leave from Canada, now or in some months.

As he is separated from his ex and we've been together for 2 years, he thinks it will be another good reason for them to delay his leave. He's got all his family members here in Canada, but he's the only one without status.

We're still asking for second opinions from other sponsors and lawyers and pretty much we are stepping in thin ice now. 

I would like to know if some one has gone through the same process and see if there's some humanity in these officers or not.
