I have a basic level of french. Does anyone know what kind of exam I will need to sit in order to prove my ability?

What if I pass only one part of the exam i.e. the reading section. Will this jeopardise the total points I receive, if I fail the other 3 parts?

Does anyone know if we can have a look at past papers for a taster?

Thanks for your help

You will be required to take the TEF, it is divided into 4 sections.  Read the chart at http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/resources/manuals/op/op06e.pdf  Section 10.9 to see what points you would receive for each score.
