Does anyone have any ideas or news about how the protests and unrest in Syria will effect applications that are being processed there?  Damascus is a hub for almost 90% of all applications from countries in the middle east.  My concern is will the Canadian VISA office stay open, and if so for how long?  Should I expect any further delays?

Those who are applying through Cairo, what were your experiences?  Has that office even opened back up?

Hi CanadianDude

We applied through Cairo just days before the protests began.  The Canadian Embassy closed but has since re-opened and as far as I know, they are processing apps again.  It's too early to find out our status as processing would have just begun when they re-opened.

I would imagine the embassy will be closed because they will want to make sure any Canadian workers are safe but the other thread may tell you more.

Hope this helps.
