DISCLAIMER: IT IS JUST A PROPOSAL AND NO OTHER DETAILS AVAILABLE, FURTHERMORE FROM PREVIOUS CHANGES THEY NEVER APPLIED TO THOSE WHO ALREADY IN PROCESS, UNLESS IT IS TO THEIR BENEFIT (READ OP6, PAGE 35, "if it is to the applicants advantage",)

Here are proposed (it means they are in no way final and they may be or may not be implemented)changes to FSW, probably (it means they may be or may not be implemented) coming this Summer:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/consultations/fswp/adjustements.asp
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/consultations/fswp/part2.asp

For those who are under 35, with good English and French, less experience and less education - good news.
For those with over 35 and, particularly, basic language skills- really bad news.

Is it going to be implemented from July 2011 onwards?

Also it says that depending upon profession, there would be a minimum requirement on 2nd language as well..!
So guys, it might need applicants to acquire a minimum of French language proficiency (depends upon profession)

It seems that some part would be a hard nut to crack..!!

Even though it is brutal, the changes looks acceptable to me. This should have been done long back. Anyways, from july there will be 4 batches...

Pre Nov 2008
Pre June 2010
Pre July 2011
post july 2011

Way to go CIC. I think i am def. going back...

I find it really hard to believe that making people learn French would have any bearing on adaptability unless they planned to live in Quebec.

Except there will be an election probably in the Spring, so any regulation changes would have to be introduced again.

Will  the changes affect those of us already in process in anyway?

I am afraid, it might affect us already in process.

This is really a good news for all us technical workers.
I have done 2 1/2 year diploma after 12th grade hence i get 20 points but my lot of my frnds have their diploma after 10th grade thus only 12 years of experience. Thus they can never get required points unless they have a relative in Canada or learn French.
Plus technical jobs don't require too much of language skills expecially electrical, plumbing and fitting related.
And Canadian gov is not getting sufficiant workers in those categories. Just look at the no of applications received.

Think these changes are more or less welcome, the listed example makes sense too.

It's always good and adds to your points! If you know English you should be ok though. However, the CAP for registered nurses has been reached for this year, your best bet is to apply post July 2011. Till then, it would be handy to complete a basic French course.

Cheers,

i do not think the changes [if eventually passed] will affect the pre June 2011 applicants whose applications are already in process when the new law will come into effect.
